Motherboard shorted
A short normally means damaged processors, and I've never seen one repaired.
Motherboards are usually on ebay for around £100 ($140) and they are not much fun to replace. Expect to pay a nerd £50 ($70)...
You might want to consider claiming on house insurance. They often have you a new machine in days.. :-)

Disc will not open
If you have something inside that you need out fast. Take a paper clip and straighten it out and push it in the small hole. There is a release clip inside that will allow the drawer to open. You have to use a little (key word, a little) force to open it. Don't cram it and don't be light eiether. You will see the drawer try to open up. Now once the drawer is open you have a new dilema. The laptops cd might be failing. I am going to assume nothing has been changed (new drivers) but you might want to take it by the Nerd Herd and see what is wrong. If you are posting this you must be unsure, so pay them $30.00 and be sure and watch them. Not because you can't trust them, but for you to learn. Always learn.

Unalble to connect to my wireless at home and safari and app store keeps sendong invalid argument. Bought this yesterday and am getting frustrated.
Don't stress this mess.  Tap the settings icon, tap the Wi-Fi icon, slide the bar to ON, choose your wi/fi network and type in the same pass word you use to log in from your computer.
Also, you should tap on the settings icon, tap on the general icon, tap on the about icon, and look down at what version you got.  You cheap bastards need to pay Apple $5 and download 3.1.1
The Apple nerds probably feel bad for making you pay for the 3.1.1 version, so they give you a free download to 3.1.2 after 3.1.1 is installed, This is the most current version to date and should help fix some wi/fi connection issues.

Cannot access home network anymore with the same password,on my i-pod touch screen.
Try paying Apple $5 and downloading the new update 3.1.1 you cheap bastard.  For some reason the Apple nerds feel sorry for your a.. and give you a free update to 3.1.2 after that.
Then try connecting to your wi/fi using the same password you use on your computer. The 3.1.2 update should address some of your wi-fi issues.
Some of you dumb as.es have tried to jail break your ipods and now your wi/fi and ipod is all fu.k.d up.  Don't try to cheat the system, cause the system in put in place to protect you from your own stupidity.  Remember, if it works then don't f.c.k with it.

Apex Ad 500 WM won't open - disk stuck in player
Even though the player uses a DVD ROM drive there is no hole.

It is possible there is a loading belt problem in the Drive.....

Here's a link to anything you would like to know know about hacking an APEX,,, not only making it region free but improving it's playback quality (Not all models have improvements,,, but any drive can be better than what is supplied)

I have replaced one drive on an AD-600 and upgraded the firmware for a second drive in an AD-600... AD-500 is a similar model.
