I have an Acer H243H widescreen monitor; it has speakers built in. My problem is that the Volume controls constantly show up on the screen and I am unable to get it to go away and stay gone. The touch buttons are: Input E Auto Menu < > and none work to get rid of the pop up.

When this occurs with mine, I power down the PC through windows and the monitor using the lower right power button, let bot sit for 10 - 20 seconds, then power on the PC and switch on the monitor a second or two later and the icon disappears.

Before I did this I found it would eventually disappear.

Acer support claim the H243H is a touchscreen unit, that's what the icon is all about, buy you must have Vista to use it, not XP.

Sound from built in speakers

There will either be a menu driven volume control or physical volume buttons. Also make sure you have an audio cable plugged in from the monitor to the computer. It will typically be a lime green port on both. Connected by a 3.5mm head phone jack

Need the sound drivers for the monitor

You do not need sound driver for the monitor, but you do need the sound card driver for your sound card. Your monitor has powered speakers built-in, you just need to connect the green mini stereo jack from sound card audio out to monitor audio line in and adjust the volume control at both monitor and the PC.

Can,t adjust volume up on monitor

Does it have speakers for a start? If so... You might only be able to do it through Windows. My monitor is like that. But when you have a 5:1 Surround you don't need it.

Just try adjusting it by Windows mate.

I'm frustrated. Love the picture on my Acer 22" monitor with speakers, but the sound is very poor. I have the volume for the computer turned up, but still can barely hear the sound. What can be done to...

Built-in monitor speakers are usually not the best quality. The monitor should have it's own volume control have you tried adjusting it?

You can use external speakers by plugging them into the same jack in the back (green) of the PC instead of the monitor.
