SOURCE: NS-DCC5HB09 High Definition Flash Media Camcorder: mine wont turn on and i dont have a charger!!! Hel...

You should be able to recharge this unit by connecting to your PC and charging through your USB connection.

If your battery is faulty or unable to recharge, here's a replacement battery that's available:

http://bestbuy.partsearch.com/GetModel.aspx?MfgName=Best+Buy+Company+Incorporated&BrandName=Insignia&ModelNumber=NSDCC5HB09&Page=1&SortBy=brandname&SortDirection=asc

Just about any AC to USB charger will work to recharge this unit, so if you have an iPod with the iPod wall charger, use the correct USB cable with the wall charger and you will be able to recharge the battery in the camcorder.

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: E:31:00 Error Code on sony camcorder

Recently, I faced the same problem with a Sony XR-155 camcorder while being on vacation. Fortunately, I managed to recover my videos. First, make sure that you as little as possible to the hard drive in the camera menu, so I would not recommend to rebuild the image database or to reformat the drive.

Connect the camera to your PC in the same way that you would usually do. When I tried to access the drive in Windows Explorer, I got a message that the drive was not readable and needs formatting. You do NOT want to do that. I decided to make a full backup of the drive first, so that I could safely fiddle around later on.

The program that I used is Paragon Drive Backup. It gave me a few error messages during the back-up, which I all ignored, and after about 1.5 hours the copy was ready. The next step was to mount the image as to a free drive letter. I figured that I would need some kind of data recovery tool to extract the data, but to my surprise, the mounted disk image was readable in Windows Explorer as if no problem had ever occurred. Luckily, I was able to extract all of my videos from the camera in this way.

Of course I do not know for certain whether this technique also works in your case. For instance, it could be the case that the code E:31:00 is a generic HDD error message and therefore, it might be the case that your camera has a different problem than mine had. However, I think it is worth the shot to try to recover your data in this way (I assume Backup & Recovery 10 Suite does the same trick, a demo version is available on http://www.paragon-software.com/downloads/home/).

This procedure of course does not fix your camera (what I understand from various massages across the internet is that you should send it to Sony to get it repaired), but at least you might be able restore your data. I hope that you will be successful, good luck!

SOURCE: SONY HANDYCAM DCR-35E

I had the same problem. When I purchased my HDR-SR11 camera some four years ago, I was running XP and the PMB Disc Burning worked well. When I changed over to Windows 7 I kept bombing out like a lot of other users. The problem was that I was using an old version of PMB (3.0.00). I went to the Sony web site and downloaded the latest version of PMB with an upgrade (0810a.exe) This fixed my problem and the Disc Burn function workes perfectly now.

SOURCE: Sony HDD DCR-SR40 Handycam Accidental Video Deletion

When files are deleted they still remain on camcorder hard drive and can be recovered, unless they have been overwritten by fresh data.

The only thing to do so run a data recovery program to see what can be recovered. The only program I have tested is asoftech data recovery software and it had done the job well. download the data recovery from http://www.asoftech.com

Select the drive where your files were deleted and then do a deep scan. It will find your deleted files.

Recovering data file after receiving error: inconsistencies found in image database file Cannot record or play HD movies Do you want to repair the image database file?

STOP
do not write anything to your camcorder's removable memory stick, otherwise you willt re-write the files and permanently lose your videos and pictures.
Install this recovery software called Tenorshare Data Recovery.
From inside the software,navigate/choose your memory stick letter( "D", "F", "G" ... ? ) and scan the section where it says "Raw Recovery", "Videos" or "Photos" . Scan the memory stick and Set the destination folder(folder where recovered files will be saved) somewhere on your computer.
BTW, you can get this recovery software from
Photo Recovery Software for Windows

Photo Recovery Software for Mac
It will show you thumbnails for your pictures that it found on your memory stick.
WARNING:there will be lots of recovered files,do not set the destination folder as your DESKTOP,otherwise you'll end up having 100000 files on your desktop... = total mess :)

Does the sony handycam HDR XR520 camera have pass through facility to convert old 8mm/hi8 and VHS please?

Not many cameras will use all formats in them no, but once your movie is on your hard-drive of the PC you can copy the film to any other media.

Hi karategrl2k,

In some situations, deleted files can be recovered. There are three levels of data recovery available, dependant upon the condition of your hard drive. For more information, visit your Geek Squad® precinct at your local Best Buy™ store. You may also check out other Geek Squad® services at http://www.geeksquad.com/pricing.
