Code must be wrong but printer wont start till cleared

error code u052 is a print head error that means the print head is faulty If unit is still under warranty should cover the printhead. Go ahead and call canon support number for your region or go online to canon website for closest Authorized Service Facility and they will take care of it for you.

It may be that you need to clean your timing strip. (Download the manual from the usa canon website to learn more about the timing strip.)
Also, if cleaning the timing strip does not help, you may need to lubricate your purge cap. The purge cap is the white sliding mechanism that the printhead parks against when not in use.
1. Get yourself some white grease.
2. Remove the right printer panel to gain access to the purge mechanism.
3. Do not get any grease on the wipers or the black caps!
4. Moisten JUST the purge cap with the white grease.

turn on the printer and put inside 1 by 1 the cartridge, if the problem don't chances buy another printhead..
