LG makes a high pitched sound during water add cycle
My LG front load washer makes a very high pitched sound when the water is being added during the wash cycle. As soon as the water is added it goes away.
Re: LG makes a high pitched sound during water add cycle
Hello.
The high pitched sound is a definite sign that the water valve in use is failing. The squeal is from a restricted water flow through the valve because it is not opening all the way. You will need to choose cold or hot to narrow down which valve is bad and replace that one.

Generally speaking grass clipping etc will stay in tub on a hi efficiency washer. That's why the water level is very low also-high efficiency, low water use. Most LG washers have an extra water button to add a small level of water per wash.
I have run into this problem several times with LG washers. On one job LG had us replace every electronic componet that had anything to do with the water fill and the problem still was not resolved. The electronic control determines how much water to fill depending on the load size, so smaller loads give you less water, with the same amount of soap. Leaving clothes in the washer overnight, and leaving the door closed does contribute to mold and fungi growth in the washer. The customer tried different brands of soaps and different amounts of soap. He left the door open after usage to allow the unit to dry out, and tried different cleaners, to clean out the sludge build up. We determined that there just is not enough water to thoroughly clean the clothes. The sales store had to replace the washer with another brand. There is an ongoing class action lawsuit against Lg for this problem. Do an online Search for lg washer lawsuit. By the way, we don't have a problem with clothes not getting clean with the Whirlpool Super Capacity Duet Front-Loading Washers. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists
This problem is usually caused by LOW water pressure going in the washer.
1. Remove hot water hose and flush all debree from water line.
2. Change water filters and you'll be good to go.
1) Make sure valve is open all the way 2) some machines have a screen inside of the hose hook up which could be clogged. 3) last check to see if it is the hot or cold by switch your selector switch on your machine to hot then cold. If one of these positions eliminate the noise then the valve in the machine is bad.
It is normal for the machine to cycle between hot and cold water when
filling even if selecting a cold cycle. The reason for this is because
even a cold cycle requires the water temperature to be 78F for the soap
to break up efficiently.
During the cold months the water in
your pipes is probably less than 78F so the machine will need to add
some hot water to bring it up to this temperature. Basically, it is
adding cold and then hot water to maintain a temperature in the tub of
78F for cold water cycles.
Ours started knocking several months ago and then progressed to a high pitched sound when in the spin cycle. I manually turned the drum and heard and felt a bearing roughness. I lifted the drum assembly and felt a fair amount of play, which I think the initial knocking noise came from. On the sears web site a new rear drum mount cost 293.00. Today we went and bought a LG model wm2455hw at Home depot, on sale until 2/20/08. I couldn't see paying to repair a machine that only lasted four years.
