Simple answer; NO! What ever you do; do not try to force anything to move and don't try to disassemble the lens. Contact a Nikon Repair Depot (found in your instruction manual or on the Nikon USA website) and they will give you instructions for returning it for a repair estimate. If it is still in warranty, there should be no charge.

HVR-A1 Optical zoom is not working, but digital zoom works ok-

The most likely cause for this is a zoom or focus lens out of place or impaired in some way. This will require disassembling the camera to remove the lens assembly and then disassembling the lens block to repair. This can be done fairly inexpensively but it's not really a user serviceable problem and should be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My Sony Handycam DCR-HC20 is giving me an E:61:10. The lens will not focus nor will it zoom in or out. Any one have any suggestions

The most likely cause for this is a zoom or focus lens out of place or impaired in some way. This will require disassembling camera to remove the lens block and then disassembling the lens block to repair. This can be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not really a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

The camera is unable to focus properly in low light at long focal lengths. You might have to throw some light on the subject with a flashlight until the camera locks in the focus or resort to focussing manually.
