Question about Neff Refrigerators

1 Answer

Neff integrated fridge freezer. Intermittent fault. Sounds like compressor jerking on and off

Seems to run normally for a while then it sounds like the compressor is starting and then it stops suddenly causing a sudden vibration to whole fridge freezer. Seems to keep trying to start up so repeats. The freezer is struggling to get cold enough consistently. Fridge is maintaining temperature more but at times light is flashing

Suddenly stopped getting cold.both fans are turning

take the back off of the machine to expose the compressor- if it is hot, but you dont feel the vibration of it running, you will need a new start relay. If the compressor is running, but there is no cooling, you will likely be shopping for a new fridge. Start Device 8201786

If the compressor is not making any noise and a fridge is worm it means that the compressor is not working. It could be a faulty compressor or a control unit. If it is a compressor, it is not that simple to replace it yourself, unless you have a proper equipment. Because the unit has to be evacuated and recharged with a refrigerant after replacement.
If it is a control unit, it can be replaced, but I would leave it up to a pro to check it out and fix it, if it is worse.

Whirlpool refrigerator not cooling after storm

Assuming that both freezer and refrigerator temperatures have risen and the humming sound that you heard was followed by a sudden click more than likely the start device on the compressor has gone bad. This is a common problem with all Whirlpool refrigerators (KitchenAid is Whirlpools top of the line product and suffers the same problem).

Hi, was wondering if you could help. I have an Electrolux fridge Model ER6632I that has suddenly stopped cooling. This fridge is approx 8 yrs old. I opened up to the rear of fridge and found that...

Seems that the compressor has some fault within the unit as it takes in more current under pressure. Sometimes it can be due to fault within the compressor, failure of the valve , O-rings. Now shut down the fridge for about 6 hours and then plug in the fridge to start. Observe cooling to happen in about one hour and ice to from under three hours.
Earlier make sure that the thermostat was set to normal mode for freezer and fridge. If there is no ice formation we have a big issue as the compressor and gas must be checked out. , if RPM of motor is low check capacitor.

A loud vibrating sound

Bad compressor, if the compressor is going bad or the bolts that hold the compressor in place are loose. Check to make sure the bolts are tight. If not check the compressor with your hand and see how much it vibrates.

Hotpoint FFA71 fridge and freezer suddenly stopped working

Sounds as though the compressor has stopped working. It feeds both compartments with control from a printed circuit above the top door.Where all your red lights are ablaze! (This can be replaced by removing the 2 screws and "clicking" out the small panel) Check that the compressor is running at the bottom rear of the fridge/freezer before anything else.

Freezer dying first, fridge failing...

Is the compressor running. also check to see if the fan next to compressor is running. They should both run at same time..is the compressor fan running and compressor not? Could be the compressor start relay. Next, is there frost buildup on inside back wall of freezer? If so u may have a defrost control out or defrost heater or defrost terminating thermostat out. Greg

Top mount fridge stopped refrigerating, maybe compressor?

It could be a bad compressor or the Start Relay that is bad, an easy way tell if the compressor is bad or not. If the compressor is hot to the touch it's probably the Start relay is bad, but with the Fridgeidare they have had some compressor issues. Good luck

Refrigerator stopped working, freezer works fine

Sounds like the evap fan is not running. The fan takes cold air from the freezer to cool the refer compartment. If the freezer is cold the compressor is running. Generally the freezer will stay cold since the cooling coils are there but it must have the fan working to get the air up to the refer area. Pull everything out the freezer and take the back panel off to view the coils and fan, etc. It's a simple easy job to change the fan. If you find the coils are a total block of ice then it's another problem... the defrost cycle isn't working. Sooo... see if the fan is running in the freezer compartment first. See http://www.partselect.com/Schematics/Maytag/AA43-57.gif for fan location, item 18 is the fan motor. Let us know what you find out.
