Is Calidad Brother AX Correctable Ribbon No 153C suitable for this typewriter?

Hellooo.
2 thing come to mind you may check.
First check the ribbon cartridge to see if it is empty..These are usually a one time ribbon...and has to be replaced when empty.
2nd make sure the cartridge is snapped in properly and seated, and also the printwheel lever must be snapped (pushed forward) in order for everything to be aligned. if the typewriter has a correction tape (white or clear) make sure it is not interfering with the ribbon.
Lastly the ribbon drive may be broken or out of adjustment. a minor repair.

You may be right about typing on the coreection riboon. Tell your friend to take out the ribbon cartridge and reinsert it. It needs to click all the way down, or else if it is at the ink cartridge level, it will type white!

Make sure ribbon you have if for the typewriter you have. take ribbon off machine and type characters, you should see the small ribbon (black) part that turns the ribbon move. If not you have a problem in the printer carrier itself...

make sure you power on the typewriter and space bar carrier until middle of bar. flip open cover and put ribbon in rear end first then push front to lock. i have to then turn orange knob on top of ribbon cassette in direction that arrow points just to tighten ribbon and that usually will lock the ribbon cartridge if it lock with first push. also, the ribbon itself goes in front of the 2 guides that stick up higher than the rest. hope this helps. if not you can look at brother website under that model and look at manual. it shows you how.
