Bought a Kirby G 6 but it only blows air out, doesn't have any suction. Brushroll seems to be turning but nothing is being collected in the bag. Also how do you detach the cloth bag to wash it?

I have the solution for the cloth bag laundering process...

Here is a link to my guide for cleaning the Kirby cloth bag...

http://reviews.ebay.com/DEODORIZING-CLEA...

It should be helpful. :0)

The Tech Drive problem SHOULD be able to be fixed easily and fairly cheaply by a vac shop or Kirby distributor. There is an adjustment that needs to be made, but it shouldn't require purchasing any parts.

How to replace filler tube on Kirby G4 vacuum?

first take cloth bag off, held on at bottom with bag clamp, then wash cloth bag in washing machine at 40, inner hose is held on by 2 cable ties top and bottom, your new hose should come with 2 new cable ties, ask kirby agent when ordering, them simply refit.

There isNo suction on Kirby sentria

  1. Put the hose and see if suction is good. If it is - you may have had nozzle installed wrong or brush roll may be worn out (bristles must be sticking out of the nozzle by about 1/8 of an inch).
  2. If there is no suction with the hose either - check if bag is not overfilled to the point where dirt is blocking the fill tube hole.
  3. If two above are fine - something must be blocking the air passage from the fan to the bag. Check for clogs in the fill tube (tube inside the cloth bag) and mini emptor (bag bottom plastic part) and also see if there is something blocking the exhaust on the vacuum. You may not even see it so use a piece of wire. Once I found a sock there and it was so close to the fan that I could not see it in the hole and was only able to get it out using a homemade hook made from a coat hanger.

My Kirby Ultimate G does not have enough suction to pick up pet hair. Is there anyway this can be corrected? I felt under the vacuum when it was running, the roller is running, but I felt very little...

An Ultimate G has lots of suction. If you turn on your vacuum and the bag immediately inflates - that is how you can tell if your Kirby is moving air (suction). There is a more modern brush that came out with the Ultimate G Diamond and the Sentria that has stiffer bristles that dig up pet hair better.

Another way to test the suction is to spread some baking soda onto a hard floor and vacuum it up - you can see how much suction your Ultimate G has, or take off the vacuum head and put on a hose and test the suction at the end of the tube.

Ways to increase your Ultimate G cleaning efficiency. Take off the vacuum head and remove the brush roller. Attach your hose attachment and **** vacuum out the head. Put on a new belt, and remove any hair and or string or threads that may be wrapped around the brush roller. Put the roller back on and on the ends of your roller you will see that the ends spin and have numbers on them. If your vacuum brushroll is original - you could have your bristles rather worn and so you can align the #3 on BOTH sides of the brushroller. This would be a good time to consider upgrading to the Sentria Brush.
Remove the bag, and replace with the CLOTH Kirby bag. It has the best filtration and it has the best airflow (which increases what you are referring to as suction). If you want to go the cheap route - at least get the paper Micron Magic with HEPA filtration (but it has slightly less air flow)
Remove the side mini emptor from the vacuum and check to see if there is anything clogged up on either the vacuum or the mini-emptor.
If your engine is running and inflating the bag and you replace the belt, the brush roller and to the cloth dust bag - your vacuum should pretty much run like a brand new Sentria Vacuum. Your vacuum system is outstanding, but may benefit from a little TLC if you have been neglecting it.

How do I detach the cloth bag from my Kirby G3 Vaccuum to wash it

I would clean the bag by blowing it out with compressed air (lightly). If you do wash it, do it by hand in room temp water and air dry. I'm not too sure how to remove the whole bag on that model. You should call your local vacuum dealer to inquire, and ask the same question you asked here on Fixya.

I have the bag unhooked and the hose connected to the motor which has engaged the safety switch but the Kirby will not turn on to blow air

Blower instructions HERE. It MUST help.
If you put it back together as VACUUM and it works with hose (attached to suction) and the nozzle - no problems with Kirby. Then you must not be turning the hose on the exhaust all the way. Sometimes it is pretty hard...Or maybe the safety sup plastic that presses the safety switch on the front of the unit is broken.

Good Luck,
Rocky

KIRBY G-6 RUNS BUT HAS NO SUCTION, BELT IS GOOD, FAN APPEARS TO BE INTACT

1. Put the hose instead of the nozzle and see if suction is good with the hose. If it is – brush roll may be worn out (bristles must be sticking out of the nozzle by about 1/8 of an inch).
2. If there is no suction with the hose either – check if bag is not overfilled to the point where dirt is blocking the fill tube hole.
3. If two above are fine – something must be blocking the air passage from the fan to the bag. Check for clogs the fill tube (tube inside the cloth bag) and mini emptor (bag bottom plastic part) and also see if there is nothing in the exhaust on the vacuum. You may not even see it so use a piece of wire. Once I found a sock there and it was so close to the fan that I could not see it in the hole and got a grip of it only a hook made out of old coat hanger.

Kirby vacuum

The Kirby air flow can be reversed to become a blower (not pump).
This is ideal for blowing up low pressure items such as air beds etc.
Take off the complete bag assembly by twisting at the bottom and unclip at the top.
Fit the flexible hose to where the bag attached, align the arrows and twist fully until located.
Remove the front brush assembly, lift the front head light flap, detach the belt by twisting the square knob to the red position (off). un-clip the front assembly.
Your kirby should be supplied with a box type attachment (air intake guard) that fits on the front covering the motor spindle and making the safety switch.
Once fitted your kirby should now blow.
