How can I set up a gaming system without a remote?

Can I get the TV to display the input from the composite ports in the front without using a remote? The TV powers on and tries to check for channels. Obviously it finds none, and then I'm stuck. No other buttons work except for the ones that make it try to find channels. Is there a certain channel I have to set it to that would be equivalent to "video 1" so I can get my game system to work?

SOURCE: Panasonic pv-c1350w channel/clock auto set

You are probably talking about the main menu that appears when the TV is taken off the AC power outlet, to get rid of this page just turn the tv off and on again and it should give you access to what ever channel was tuned before, if your game console has an RF out, your TV should be set to channel 3 ir 4, if the console has composite outs the change the channel until the TV goes to Aux in or Video in. Retrevo.com has an instruction manual available which you can download free, just in case you need more informantion, if the channel keys do not work, then you may have to get a universal remote ,they are fairly inexpensive and will come in very handy at least for the basic functions or just have theTV worked on.

How best connect external DVD to TV: Composite or Component? Both available on both units

If the TV does have a component input, that will be your best choice. Component video provides an HD signal; composite is only an SD (480i) signal. However, if the TV doesn't have 3 RCA ports (red, green and blue) for the video itself, in addition to the red/white RCA audio ports, you may be missing an adapter that allows the port to be used properly. You'll need to set the TV to the external video input with a Source or Input button on the TV or the remote. If you press the DVD button on the remote, the TV will only attempt to get the signal from the internal DVD.

Please add a comment with the make and model of your TV for additional information. A number of TVs (like some LG models) share the composite and component inputs and use an adapter to reduce the input to a smaller area on the TV. Without the adapter, the TV can't correctly identify the signal. The component video adapter for my LG TV looks like this: http://www.amazon.com/LG-OEM-Original-Part-EAD61273107/dp/B00C5HXILE . There's a second one for the audio signal.)

I hope this helps.

How to hook my play station 2

To what kind of monitor or TV set?
using the correct output cables from the console, plug it in to the 'In' port of the TV.
Compossite cables are yellow red and white. Should be simple enough?
unless you have a more complex situation, then you need to be more specific in your question.
If a set with multiple 'Inputs', then take notice of what port you plugged into, and then press 'Input' on your remote, and scroll to the proper port.

Hi, I bought an aquos lc-30hv4u and it has no rca jack etc, only two plug ins labled display input 1 and 2. I am guessing its just a pc monitor. How would I use it for cable tv video games etc

There are lots of inputs on the back behind the cover. Three inputs (1, 2, 3) have an S-video, composite video (A/V) and component video jacks. The cover will come off if you press the two top hook at the top of the cover. Then rotate the cover towards you. There are also a DVI-D port and 2 coax (antenna in) jack. The tuners included are for NTSC (analog OTA) and CATV (analog cable). The front of the PC (VGA) and a S-video or composite (A/V) video input (called Input 4).

Composite and component video jacks are all RCA jacks (as are the associated audio jacks for the input). Composite cables uses three RCA plugs on each end - yellow for video, red and white for Right and Left audio. Component video cables have three plugs on each end that just carry video (red, blue and green); the audio is wired separately with just 2 RCA red/white plugs. Match your colors from the device out to the TV input.

Changing inputs can be done with the remote or the input button on the top of the TV. The input button is to the left of the power and Main Power buttons.

Connecting your game system, cable system and all will depend on the units. For the best picture, use component video cables for mose set top box. Some cable boxes have a DVI port - use that if the box has that option. If they do not have component video out, then use composite or S-video cables.

The owner's manual is available from Sharp as a pdf: http://www.sharpusa.com/CustomerSupport/ProductDownloads.aspx?downloadtype=ownersmanual . Use the drop down menus as follows > LCD TV, Model not listed, LC-30HV4U then click Search. The picture of the inputs are on page 10.

I hope this helps.

How do you put the tv in game mode without a remote

Hi,

Follow the steps below to switch your TV to game mode without using the remote:

1. Connect the game system to the TV using the AUDIO/VIDEO inputs on the FRONT of the TV.
2. Switch the game system on.
3. Press the "MENU" button on the front of the TV
4. Use the "CH" UP/DOWN buttons on the TV to highlight the "PICTURE" option. This is the first option so should already be highlighted.
5. Press the "VOL UP" button to select this option
6. Use the "CH" UP/DOWN buttons on the TV to highlight the "GAME MODE" option. This is the first option so should already be highlighted.
7. Press the "VOL UP" button to change the GAME MODE setting to "ON"

The TV should automatically switch to GAME MODE if you are using the inputs on the front of the TV.

8. Press "MENU" to exit and play your games.

Hope this helps. Please post back if you need further assistance.

I cant hook up the red, white, and yellow wires to my magnavox tv

If you mean that the TV doesn't have a set of composite video/audio jacks, then you need a converter for the inputs on the TV. (Most likely you need a video converter (RF modulator) that converts the game console composite video to RF (coax) and set the TV to channel 3 or 4 usually. RF modulators are available from stores like Radio Shack for $30.)

If you have a TV with a composite video input and can't get the game console to view, then there is a different problem. First try new cables. Switch your input as needed for both the TV and the game system. This will depend on the TV and if you have the original remote/unlocked front panel buttons on the TV or a substitute remote that maintains all of the features of the original remote. On some TVs you can cycle through to the A/V inputs by increasing (or decreasing) the channels until you are between channel 2 and the highest available channel. (This doesn't always work if the TV has been programmed to skip channels that previously had no signal.) Otherwise look for a Source or Input button on the remote or TV (or an OSD menu (sub menu) that lets you change the source).

I hope this helps.

How do I hook my Memorex Model MVD2016 to an Emerson Model EWT19B3 TV

You need to get an RF modulator if you want to connect to the antenna input on the back of the TV set. You can use the composite output of the Memorex - the yellow cable output - and connect to the video input on the front of the TV, and use the red or white output from the DVD to connect to the audio input on the front of the TV. You will have to press the 'game' button on the remote to select the front audio/video inputs.
