This will either be the connector rods/cables have failed or a latch assembly problem. Easiest test to find out is to pull the release lever inside the vehicle and feel how it reacts. If it is really easy to pull and there feels like there is not tension on the lever it is most likely a linkage that has failed. If there is tension there but it's refusing to work it is more likely to be the actual latch at fault.
I'm assuming you can open the door from the outside? If it opens from the outside it suggests it might be a linkage. The connectors for these linkages are usually plastic. Over time they age and go brittle so they fall apart if pulled to hard.
You will need to strip the door card off that door and get inside the door panel to repair this for both issues. Plan a whole day for this if you plan on doing it yourself. This, unfortunately, is one of those jobs where it will take the skin off at least 2 knuckles and involve a lot of swearing.

If you can open it from the inside, someone will need to take the door panel off and check the linkage to the door latch.

Remove the inside door handle cover , Take out the piece that has yhe rods attached to it . There is 2 black plastic pieces that one opens the door and the other one locks the door. One is broken . The one that opens the door from inside, Reolace the piece and put the rods back on. put cover on . Done.

No it sounds like the lock linkage rods have come off, the plastic clips that hold then to the door latch from the door handle inside the door age and become brittle, then the lock release rod plastic end clip breaks. You will need to open up the door and remove the trim panles and replace those end clips, they are available from ford in right and left configurations.

Removal & Installation
NOTE Two people are needed to remove and install the doors.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
   
2. Detach the necessary wiring connectors.
   
3. Matchmark the door hinges to the body. This will aid in alignment when installing the door.
   
4. With an assistant supporting the door, remove the hinge retaining bolts and remove the door.
   

NOTE If you are using a jack or similar tool to support the door, be careful not to damage the paint.

1. If the door is to be replaced, transfer the following components to the new door if in usable condition: trim panel, watershield, outside moldings, clips, window regulators and door latch components.
   

To install:

1. With an assistant positioning the door, install and partially tighten the hinge bolts.
   
2. Align the door and tighten the bolts to 19–25 ft. lbs. (25–35 Nm).
   
3. Attach the necessary wiring connectors and connect the negative battery cable.

2 screws on door pull and door clips around outside edge of door panel pop out with flat screwdriver then remove panel some motors you can replace just the plastic gears oriellys parts stores carry them obout 15 bucks good luck

You need to Replace the Rubber Weather Stripping Inside the Door Frame. You See it every time you open one of the Doors. This can be Purchased from the Dealership Parts Department.
