SOURCE: Subwoofer not working

you have to reset the receiver, i had the same problem, works now, it's great, should be in the instruction booklet. I think it was, hold the power button while you disconnect it from the wall, not too clear but check the booklet in resetting system

SOURCE: Onkyo TX-SV525 Receiver subwoofer pre out no sound

Yes turing on the "A" speaker is required for the Onkyo, but that only turns on the 2 front speakers in the "A" speaker jacks.

You may also need to check and see if the Onkyo has a menu selection in the setup menu that will turn on the sub woofer output on the back of the receiver.

I have seen on countless occasions where people just have a hard time finding that sub woofer option on their receiver.

I do not have the manuals for this Onkyo, so I can not tell you the exact way to find it.

I have been repairing surround receivers since they have been on the market and beleive me, you are not alone in this situation.

Sometimes it seems like you need a Phd. in programming or something similar just to firgure out how to set one of these up.

The solution should be in your owners manual, with the problem then being, just where in the manual. Go slowly thru it paying the closest attention to anything about set up procedures.

I have also seen at times where the setup for the sub-woofer is not listed as sub-woofer, but as "LFE" (low frequency effect) . So keep your eyes open for that.

something else, your sub woofer may have an auto turn on. That means it will only turn on if it detects an input signal. Make sure yo uhave the volume up enough on the receiver to trigger that auto turn on if yours has one.

I would like to have been more help, but without the manuals I can only give you general type thngs to look for. These type of receivers are all so different and all so complicated to operate. The days of just turning on a stereo, selecting your source and turning up the volume seem to be over.

Let me know if you need any more assistance from me.

Dave

p.s. Very nice system you have, when you get the Kef working I think you are going to just love this system. and Onkyo has the best quality receivers in their price range.

SOURCE: No sound from Sub Pre-out on Onkyo TX-SR606

Also, it could possibly the preout terminal itself that is not working. One way to prove that is by transferring the subwoofer cable from the preout and temporarily transfer it to the tape out section. If it ouputs sound from there, then that means the speaker and the cables are working fine and it's just the preout terminal itself that is not picking up anything. ^_^

SOURCE: Powered Or Unpowered Subwoofers For Onkyo TX-8511

Greg- Powered subs are better than non-powered subs (also known as passive subs), anyway I see the TX-8511 has no sub pre-out on the back panel, so you need to decide what sub you will use and run from the receivers left and right speakers output into a subwoofers speaker in from speakers then back out to speakers, look at the back of a subwoofer and you will see like 4 sets of speaker hookups 2 in and 2 out, what this does is takes the low end or bass and drops the signal to the subwoofer then takes the mids and highs out to your left and right speakers, unless your regular left and right stereo speakers have large woofers a sub is the way to go.

Onkyo dr s2.0 DVD receiver has subwoofer output but no other speakers have sound. I have experience with electronics. Is there fuses for the preamps and power outputs separate from the main in ?

Hello Todd, I would not suggest trying to repair this unit yourself. I suggest an authorized service but it might be difficult getting parts. Thank you, Onkyo USA

Onkyo skw 591 subwoofer...blue light is on and no sound? any thoughts?

Hello, To test the subwoofer when the blue light is on if you apply your thumb to the end of the subwoofer cable (the end that you would plug into the receiver) there should be feedback from the sub. If there is no feedback then the sub is not working correctly. Thanks, FJD

SKW 540. green power light turns on but why no sound?

Hello Johnny, As a test to see if the subwoofer is working I would have you run one simple test. Unplug the subwoofer from the receiver and apply your finger to the end of the cable. If the subwoofer is working then you will hear feedback through the receiver as you put your finger on it. If there is no feedback this is usually a good indication that the subwoofer is no longer working. Thanks, FJD

My receiver is not picking up the subwoofer, there is noise coming from the sub when I'm playing with the conection. The speakers are working and im getting prefect sound from them Please help.....

It would be helpful to know if this is a new problem on working equipment or a new problem on NEW equipment. And if you've flipped through the manual without success.

Of course you KNOW the sub must have its own amp, right?

First, you need to determine if the Onkyo or the unnamed sub is at fault.

Register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Onkyo-TX-SR608-Receivers-manual/id/23653ag916/t/2/

At the Onkyo, check to make sure you have run the speaker setup starting on Page 40. If that doesn't work...

Disconnect the subwoofer pre-out at the Onkyo and move it to the VCR Out, tune an FM station and be ready for some real loud subwoofer output if your sub has no volume control of its own. If you can hear the sub, it works and it's back to the Onkyo. If not, the unnamed sub

Speakers not working

Follow this checklist:
1) Make sure they're securely plugged into the wall
2) Make sure that any relevant power switches are in the "on" position. Is there one one the subwoofer?
3) Make sure they're securely plugged into your computer (or other device)
4) Make sure that the source device is actually outputting sound. Try plugging headphones directly into the computer
If these fail, please come back with more details. Are there any indicator lights/LEDs on the speakers? If so, do they light up when plugged in and turned on?

Subwoofer goes to sleep

The receiver automatic speaker set-up set the sub volume at -12 and since it was not getting any signals from the receiver it was doing what it is supposed to be doing (going to the standby mode). This was troubleshooted by Onkyo tech support on a Sunday. All the best about Onkyo customer support.

Onkyo subwoofer not working

I fixed my subwoofer. The resistor at R16 (right next to the fuse) was the fried component. I removed it and replaced it with a 13K ohm 5 watt metal oxide resistor (from Mouser Electronics if not available locally). Works fine now. I got the solution and the circuit schematic from an audio hobbiest at diyAudio.com. This is, evidently, a fairly common problem.
