Question about Washing Machines

Is repair time and parts extensive for this type of repair? Kenmore Front Load Model# 110.45986401

Washer beginning to leak at bottom front. Looking underneath... the outer drum appears to be the only area with moisture (seam area between clamps). Water in base pan has same mold as drum seam area has. Checked drain pump and trap - not leaking or clogged. Hoses are dry. Concerned this will be an extensive repair as access to the outer drum looks like a lot of disassembly is required.

Confirm that it is not the door seal. The door seal can easily be replaced and the parts are available.

You would expect that any water leaking around the door seal would migrate down to the lowest part of the tub leaving the appearance that the leak is where the two half's of the tub are joined by the retaining clips
.
Replacing the seal between the two tub half's is a different story as compared to the door seal. The tub seal is definitely do-able, but not for the faint of heart!!

If the leak is very very small I might wait until a major overall is require such as the tub seal/bearing. If I chose to wait I would monitor the situation.

Inspect the area at the hub of the pulley looking for streaks of rust.. If there is an indication that water is leaking past the basket tub seal than doing an over hall now may included front door seal, tub seal, bearing and basket seal replacement.

When filling my Kenmore washer to begin a load of laundry the water enters the tub like it is going to wash but immediately drains onto the floor and the "water sensor" never tturns the water...

This either due to a detached "water sensor"/pressure switch hose or a broken drain/leaking drain pump. Disconnect power then remove the screws securing the console to the top of the machine. Pull the console forward then up and lay it back on the hinges. The screws are located at the rear of the console, front corners of the console, or at the front corners of the console under the end caps.

Looking for a manuel for a kenmore elite oasis he,stopped washing

If you are looking for a REPAIR manual, each one of these washers come with a technical data sheet located inside the front panel of the appliance. The tech sheet includes all diagnostics procedures, error code definitions, troubleshooting flow charts and wiring diagrams. To access it, you can pop the top panel open by locating the two retaining clips in the seam along the front of the washer where the washer top and front panel meet. About 2 inches in from each side slide a putty knife into the seam and push in to release each clip. Hold the lid shut as you lift the top. The tech sheet is located on the inside of the front of the washer between the wash tub and casing. Or....you can have someone lift the washer and tilt it back and you can try reaching up from the bottom between the wash tub and front casing.

If you need an OWNER'S manual, you can go to managemylife.com and type in the your model number under the "Manuals" link. They have an extensive list of manuals in .pdf (Adobe) format that you can download or print for FREE.

I hope this helps you.

He3t washer leaking corner bottom

You will need to remove the lower kick panel directly below the door to gain access to the inside cabinet to see where the leak may be coming from. The panel comes off by removing the screws under the bottom front edge of the panel. With the screws removed, the panel will drop down, then come off.

NOTE: Propping the two front feet of the washer up with something (a 2x4 works well for this) will give you better access to the screws.

The most common source of leakage on this washer is the rubber bellow around the door. It can develop cracks or tears over time and require replacement. A tell-tale sign is the front counterweight (looks like a concrete block on the front of the wash tub) looking wet. The counterweight will remain dry if the tub is sealed properly. From the inside of the washer, pull the rubber folds back on the door bellow and inspect the perimeter for any rips or tears. If the bellow is damaged, it must be replaced. The following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385211-replacing_door_bellow_whirlpool_duet

If the bellow is intact, check the rear bellow seal where it connects to the front of the wash tub. If the clamp comes loose the bellow can shift and begin to leak. Tighten if necessary.

Check the drain pump and hoses to ensure they are not leaking. The drain pump is directly in the front under the wash tub.

Check the area directly below the wash tub. If the leak is coming from the wash tub iteself, you may have a bad tub seal. A replacement gasket doesn't cost much at all, but the labor involved is extensive.

Another simple problem is the dispenser tube(s) that come through the door bellow. Sometimes, these small tubes will work their way behind the rubber in the door and leak when the washer attempts to fill or rinse. This is a simple matter of adjusting the tubes to ensure they are seated through the door gasket properly.

If you have any questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

NOTE: You can refer to searspartsdirect.com for some excellent exploded view diagrams of your washer for reference in locating components.

NOTE: The repairman was correct about leaving the door open to prevent mold and mildew. Due to the water tight seal of these doors it is important to leave the door open when not in use to prevent any residual water from becoming stagnant and allows the wash tub to air out. Also, you should always check and clean the area around the door. Small articles of clothing can get stuck in this area and begin to mildew as well. I have repaired this washer numerous times and personally own one. I have never had a problem with it in the 9 years I've had it, following this regiment.

Door leak in Kenmore Front Load Washer model # 110.4646

It appears your lid switch/door latch has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.
