Control lock stays on and nothing else works on the panel. No other lights, no other controls. Disconnected power overnite but nothing changed.

The sound button is the button that you wish the sound to go on when the load is finished drying. Thanks for the advice, I was worried I just bought them and already broken.

We also had a problem with the control locked light that kept us from doing our drying...(so I tried to dry 2 loads of clothes on our clothes line in snowy cold football weather...later with the advice above we held down the Auto Dry Level button for 3 seconds and shabang it works again. Thanks for all of your advice and experience on this page. Hope someone benefits from our experience. Pulling out the plug did not do anything to reconfigure the computer inside.

I read the response on how to unlock my dryer however now I can find my sound button to press in order to unlock the problem?!?! HELP

To unlock the control button, hold down the sound signal button for a few seconds and it will unlock your dryer.

Thank You for the info. I moved me dryer yesterday to replace the vent tube and accidently touched the off button. Iheard a beep. I didn't pay attantion until this morning when I needed to dry some clothes I decided to wear to work that the controls were locked. I held down thecontrol button for louder/ softer for the count of one thousand one, one thousand two and before i could count to three POP! Unlocked!

The front light lit on my Whirlpool dryer is showing control locked
Hi.

If the front light lit is control locked, that means that your Whirlpool electric dryer had been set in control lock mode.

Control lock is a special mode that will prevent user from changing settings or using control until the dryer gets unlocked again.

The machine is set to control lock mode by holding down the CONTROL LOCK/UNLOCK button for several seconds. In the same way you can stop the control lock mode when the machine is already set to Control Lock.


When the dryer is running and Control Locked is on, the dryer can still be stopped by pressing the Pause/Cancel button, but cannot be restarted until the control is unlocked.

If the front light lit is control locked but the dryer door opens and it does not turn off, then you are probably in this situation. In that case, the door will be opening , but the machine still stays locked.

Disconnecting the machine from power, either unplugging power cord or tripping circuit breaker, won't help. The control lock system is designed to stay on in case of power failure.
If the machine is control locked, try unlocking it with the following procedure.

To unlock: Press and hold the CONTROL LOCK/UNLOCK button for 3 to 5 seconds to turn the control lock feature off.

If that does not work, try disconnecting power for five minutes to reset the machine, and eventually do unlock again. As said, cutting power alone will not cause the machine to unlock.


If the machine is still not responding, the lights stay on all the time, the dryer panel does not respond to control unlock procedure, and the door does not lock anymore, then it may be a defective control board.

If you are in this situation, before replacing the control board more parts, including the door lock must be tested. In that case the best option may be contacting the Whirlpool support number listed on the Dryer use and care manual, usually in the last pages.

In this case try resetting control lock as explained above, as told the dryer is more likely control locked and then stopped.

You pobably have a problem with the lamp control module , or the SCP serial data network . Vehicles that have more then one control module , like your vehicle ! The modules share info an send control messages on the data network . The door lock's are controlled by driver door module an is also on SCP network .
Communications Network Information Module

The first step in diagnosing these type problems would be to hook up a professional type scan tool . Check codes an see if the module's are all talking .
Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop .

Control locked light stays on after load is finished.
The Control Lock is a safety feature that allows the consumer to lock the control panel to prevent small children from manipulating the controls and accidentally starting the appliance. With the lock on, the control panel is disabled and you cannot use any of the controls, except the button to unlock it. It can inadvertently be set following a power outage, or by leaning against the control panel and usually is not an indication of a washer malfunction.

These instructions are printed on the front panel of the appliance and in the owner's manual.

The electrical systems have all gone crazy. Windows, engine lights, head lights, power locks won't function properly. I disconnected the battery and reconnected it to try and force a reset of the control...
90% probability you gave a ground wire issue at your fuse/relay panel. Most of the relays work off the same ground wires and you have relays for a majority of those "gone crazy" items.
