The best way to sort this out is to First go to the Epson website (http://www.epson.com) and click on your location - many Epson printers have different model numbers and drivers depending on location - then download the drivers and other software for your product - the website will normally correctly identify your operating system so you get the right products to download. Before installing do this - go to Start - Control Panel - Printers then click on the printer icon and press the Delete key on your keyboard and thus delete the existing installation. Obviously you should have the printer switched off for this operation. Now run the setup for the new download and when advised onscreen, switch on the printer and when all finished, your printer and its facilities should all be properly restored. Sometimes problems such as yours can occur through another background utility interfering and rendering something inoperative or could have been a small electrical spike. In any event, do the reinstall using latest software as described.
Apparently the printer detects paper in the automatic document feeder input. Mostly detection is done using a tiny switch or light sensor. Remove all paper and look if there are any pieces of paper or paper dust in the paper feeds. You can also try to use a vacuum cleaner with a small tube or a compressed air duster to clean off any pieces of paper or dust.
