L-means fan speed low
M-means fan speed of med
H-means fan speed of high.
To get proper cool, mode "cool" and less 3 degree minimum than your room temp.
To get proper Heat mode "Heat" and 3 degree more than room temp.

I don't know ... but I will say that when I have encountered a snow flake on a auto display, it has meant (in the cars I have driven) the air conditioner is turned on.
