My son replaced the thermostat and thermostat housing on his 2002 ford taurus. It is leaking from the bottom of the housing. What would cause this?

COULD HAVE DAMAGED RUBBER O RING TIGHTEN TOO TIGHT OR REUSED THE OLD ORING WILL CAUSE LEAKING.IF YOUR THERMOSTAT HAS PAPER GASKET INSTEAD O RING. YOU NEED TO PUT SEALANT ON BOTH SIDES OF THE GASKET.THAT WILL KEEP IT FROM LEAKING.IF YOUR VECHICLE HAD A RUBBER O RING AROUND THERMOSTAT REPLACE WITH NEW O RING DONT PUT PAPER GASKET IF YOU HAVE THE O RING SEAL.THE O RING DOES THE SEALING NO NEED PAPER GASKET.

I replaced the fuel filter ,and now it leaks gas when I turn it on

Remove the fuel filter and replace the o ring gaskets. If they slip out of place during replacement the filter will leak.

My truck smokes too much

sound like you have a leaking head gasket , or possible oil rings on the pistons are worn, if you have the head gaskets replaced check the clearance for the oil rings , mechanical shop can do this , just let them know to check them , but i would start with replacing head gaskets , if the smoke it white then you are leaking coolant into the cylinders , either way the head gaskets will fix

Leaking fuel rail

Recheck the o-ring on that injector, the one up at the fuel rail to make sure it didn't get damaged.
Try and seat the injector into the fuel rail first, then push it gently into the manifold, ( that is if you haven't already did that).

Remove fuel pump from tank ford windstar 98

To gain access to the fuel pump, it is necessary to remove the fuel tank.
  1. Depressurize the fuel system and remove the fuel tank from the vehicle.
  2. Remove any dirt that has accumulated around the fuel pump module attaching flange, to prevent it from entering the tank during service.
  3. Turn the fuel pump module locking ring counterclockwise using a locking ring removal tool or a brass drift and remove the locking ring.
  4. Remove the fuel pump module.
  5. Remove the seal gasket and discard it.

To install:
  1. Put a light coating of grease on a new seal ring to hold it in place during assembly. Install it in fuel tank ring groove.
  2. Insert the fuel pump module into the fuel tank, then secure it in place with the locking ring. Tighten the ring until secure.
  3. Install the tank in the vehicle.
  4. Install a minimum of 10 gallons of fuel and check for leaks.
  5. Install a pressure gauge on the throttle body valve and turn the ignition ON for 3 seconds. Turn the key OFF , then repeat the key cycle five to ten times until the pressure gauge shows at least 30 psi.
  6. Check for fuel leaks at the fittings.
  7. Remove the pressure gauge.
  8. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
