This is not difficult to troubleshoot.

  • When the arm is up the ice maker is off
  • When the bucket is full the arm is up the maker is off.
  • If the ice maker has a on/off button in off the ice maker is off
  • If the ice maker internal heater fails the cubes will not release and the white plastic ejector arms will be rotated CCW and pressing against the ice in the tray, Normal position for ejector arms is vertical.
  • If water solenoid has failed or water supply not available the ice maker will cycle. The ice tray will be empty,(hard to see if ice tray is empty). Check and replace water fill solenoid.
  • If ice in tray and ejector arms vertical several possibilities.
    • Freezer not cold enough to trip thermostat in ice maker to initiate release cycle.
    • Check freezer temperature <10 Fahrenheit thermostat in ice maker failure
    • Ice maker motor failure,
    • Internal ice maker electrical connections rotary switch failure,
The best way to check the operation is to manually lock the arm up into the off retention position. Wait a minimum of one hour. Open door and release arm down. Observe the operation of the ice maker. Is after a minute or so the ejector arm does not rotate then it is likely the ice maker has failed internally. If the ejector turns and no ice than you can assume either the water supply is off external from the refrigerator or more likely the water solenoid located behind the bottom back cover has failed. It is also possible that the hose that connects the solenoid to the ice maker has frozen right where it enters the freezer just above the ice maker. You should see ice built up at the entrance where the water fills the tray if this has occurred.

Ice maker on whirlpool quit working .

If it's like my Samsung, there is a reset micro switch button in front of the box containing the ice cube tray. Press it and the machine resets, the ice cube tray rotates, dumping the cubes. It then rights itself and fills with water. Hope this helps.

My ice maker does not make ice but water does run to front of fridge plz Help ????

I can't make out the words in your picture so there is not a lot of information to go on, but I will give it a try. If yours is like my refridgerator, there are a couple of off switches for the ice maker. One is on the control panel like the one you tried to photograph. Mine selects crushed ice, cubed ice, or ice off. The other soff switch is the lever switch that sits over the ice cube reservoir inside the freezer and shuts off the ice maker when the reservoir is full. If this lever switch is stuck in the up position you will make no ice. You say that water runs out of the front. Another problem that I once had with my ice maker was that the plastic housing around the ice cube tray cracked. One tray of ice cubes was made but when the ice maker flipped the tray over to expel the ice cubes the cracked plastic prevented any torque on the tray and the ice cubes would not come out. When the tray returned to the upright position new water would flow onto the tray, but since it was already full of ice cubes the water would simply overflow into the ice bucket reservoir. It did this over and over until I had an ice sculpture in my freezer and reservoir instead of ice cubes.

Ice cubes wont come out when the dispenser tips it upside down

The ice mold tray has built up deposits that "glue" the ice cubes to the tray. This usually means you will have to change the mold tray. You could try vinegar or lemon juice to clean it but the trays are not that expensive.

I got a new french door frig and it wont make ice CUBES. It makes ice and even though the indicator says cubed ice, it comes out crushed. Is there a way to fix this easily. Otherwise i like the frig very...

Try removing the ice bucket and ensure that there is no obstruction (ice cubes stuck inside of metal blades). If no obstruction, then your problem may be in the electronic dispenser control board (if applicable) that distinguishes between cubed and crushed ice. If it appears that the problem is the board, then contact an appliance service company.

I have model# FRS26R4AW5. The ice dispenser wil

I have a few ideas for things to try. On the bottom of the ice cube holder I believe there is a spring loaded metal rod that runs from the front of the freezer to a little indentation in the back of the freezer. Inside this indentation there is a small plastic piece that can move up and down to rotate the metal rod. Make sure this metal rod is free to rotate. Sometimes it gets stuck in one position. The position of the plastic piece inside the indent in the rear of the freezer is controlled by a solenoid which is controlled by the buttons on the front of the door for cube or crushed. Close all the doors and push the cube button. Open the freezer door and remove the entire ice cube tray. Reach to the back of the freezer and make sure the little plastic piece inside the indent will move up and down easily. You want it to be in its down position. Re-insert the ice cube tray. The metal rod should fit easily into the indent in the back of the fridge. Now close the door and see if you can get cubes. If this doesn't work I suspect the solenoid that moves the little plastic piece may need to be replaced. I hope this helps you out.

GE TBX21ji Refridgerator/Freezer Factory Icemaker quit making ice

Normally, when the temp of the icemaker gets to about 14 degrees F, the icemaker goes into the harvest mode, turning on the mold heater and attempting to eject the cubes. When the heater has warmed the mold sufficiently to release the cubes, the ejector can continue and push out the cubes, then the icemaker fills with fresh water to beging to make a batch of ice again. Manually starting the cycle as you have done only allows the cycle to start without the temp sensor seeing the 14 degrees. The mold heating generally takes a couple minutes. If your mold heater or the temp sensor are not working, you will have to replace the icemaker, as they are not available as a repair parts.

GE Side by Side only dispenses crushed ice

remove the ice cube tray assy, remove all the ice, save the cubes, wash the assy with warm water dry the assy, be sure the lever in the rear of this ice cube assy is moving and spring loaded, move the lever and it should snap back and return if so you know the unit is ok(the cube assy), now with the assy still out of the freezer close the freezer door and select crushed ice and push the pad where the glass normally hit to activate the ice cubes,if the operates and you here a thump and snap and hum most likely your ok,if not you could have a defective auger motor assy, but if you here all the sounds as decribed oped the freezer door and select cubed ice push actuator on despensor door with the freezer door closed, reopen and install the ice cube assy tray bucket assy, push it in firmley, and try it with some ice in the bucket you should be fine,if not replace auger motor assy..

Ice cubes made by ice maker become large fused chunks over time.

Ice cubes will deteriorate over time if not used. They shrink due to defrosting of the freezer and will become stale.
Once the ice bin is full, turn the ice maker off until you use the cubes and or dump the cubes every 3 or 4 days and start over.
