If there is 3 indoor units from one condensing unit
(6 pipes at outdoor unit) this is classed as a multi unit

All units will run correctly as long as they all require same mode, cooling or heating, if one unit decides to heat it will shut down until master unit decides to heat then it will start, for each unit to individually heat and cool there would have to be 3 pipes to each indoor,

SOURCE: Will Not Heat

On the outdoor unit the fan should not be running, on the indoor unit the fan should be running. If you then check the outdoor unit with fan not running, you should be able to hear clearly that the compressor is actually working. If this is all correct, it is possible that your fourway reverse valve is seeping and needs to be replaced.

It's 'possible' but not likely that you need additional freon.

What is more likely is the 'filter' (for inside coil) is dirty and possibly the coil itself - and/or - the outside coil is dirty.

I would check out the filter - if dirty - I would change it and would also inspect the inside coil. If it's also dirty I would clean it the best I could (with a brush of some sort).

I would also check the outside coil and clean it if need be.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Hi ...we have a split

There is a relay that the thermostat pulls in, in the unit outside. When this happens, the compressor pulls in and the unit outside will run. The compressor has to run before the unit will cool.

There are two things you can check outside before calling a service technician. The first is the breaker to the outside unit. There is a breaker or disconnect near the unit. If there is nothing wrong with the electrical supply, check the refrigerant level. If the level is low, the pressure switch will cut off power to the compressor to protect it from damage. DO NOT try to recharge the compressor yourself.

HOW DO I CHECK AND CORRECT THE FREON LEVEL FOR MY SANYO KS1271 A/C; WHICH IS NOT BLOWING COLD AIR?

Hire a tech it will be cheaper and safer. You may have a capacitor that is bad and not starting the compressor.

Make sure the indoor filters are clean. The outside unit will continue to run until the indoor reaches the temperature you have selected. Dirty filters can throw the temperature out. Its common for outdoor units to freeze up when on heating mode if the ambient air temperature is below 5 degrees Celcius.. The machine should however, defrost itself. There could be a problem with one of the pipe or air sensors on the outdoor unit.

Compressor will not stay on.

very good possibility that it is low on freon. If indoor unit is blowing ambient air, not cooling is happening. If this is the case and you are sure the compressor is running and then shutting off, the compressor could be overheating and the internal overload is taking out the compressor. If outdoor fan runs and compressor runs, probably cause. If capacitor is bad, unit would most likely not run that long. While unit is running, feel the large line at the condensing unit. If it is cold, and stays cold, could be something else going on. If stays warm, most likely low on freon.

New split system blows only hot air

Assuming it is brand new, are you certain that the compressor does not run at all or is it simply not pumping? Even being new, it is possible that the main compressor capacitor is faulty, this is on the top of the outdoor unit, replace and check.

Lg split indoor fan runs non stop

Hello Hamid,
The unit is designed to run the indoor fanmotors continuously when in cooling mode on both indoor units (evaporators). The reason is that this circulates the air and the temperature thermistor or sensor is able to sense return air temperature and in turn start or stop the outdoor unit and compressor as required according to the setpoint temperature. The reason for either unit not reaching setpoint temperature can be a couple of reasons. A) Incorrect design - the unit may be too small for the application. You can calculate this roughly at 650BTU per square meter of room in a relatively warm ambient climate. Or secondly B) The outdoor unit has leaked and is short of refrigerant. You can check this when the outdoor unit is running by feeling the thicker copper tube on the right hand side of the unit. This should be cool to cold. If no temperature difference is felt, it is short of refrigerant. Hope this helps you. Goodbye
