Visio VX32L has a black screen, appears to power on but picture.
I'm trouble shooting my neighbor's VX32L ser. #LSPABCH1410033. The Visio light below the screen glows yellow when plugged in and changes to white when powered on, changes back to yellow when powered off. There is no visible light or glow on the screen.
When powered on, after a few seconds a light labeled LED2 on the back of the slave backlight inverter glows bright blue for a few seconds then fades to dark. The two large purple capacitors on both the master and slave invertors exhibit some swelling and exudation. Both of the purple capacitors have 24.5 volts DC on the +terminal after power is turned on.
I'm interested in repairing this set for my neighbor as she is an elderly pensioner who likes her TV. Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Any swelling on a cap is bad sometime you wont see swelling ontop sometimes its on the bottom, I suggest replacing those caps then try again make sure you discharge the caps as well.
Also make sure its the right caps too!
1000uf 6.3volts or something like that. Ebay a good source for caps and amazon.
I found a deal for the backlight boards, replaced them and the set works fine!I found a deal for the backlight boards, replaced them and the set works fine!

Our Visio 42" flat screen TV did the same thing. It didn't happen that often but sometimes it would go darker or the sound would go off until I changed the channel or turned TV Off then back On. I contacted Visio through my warranty and they sent me a flash drive to install info on my TV. Did not fix the problems. A year later before warranty ended I contacted Visio again. They sent a huge box for me to pack my TV in to send to the warehouse where they fix everything. It took about 2 wks. to get it back. Worked fine for about 4 months and the problems continued. I will not buy another Visio TV. I found out that they had many problems with several models.
I would try to look on the power supply first for popped capacitors that supply the 24v rail for the backlight inverter.
Having sound is a positive when it comes to repair. This means that only your screen is not lighting.
If you repair the 24v line and check the 5v feed also going to the BN_on (on) the backlight inverter and you still have no picture...you will need a new backlight inverter.
I just had my Vizio which blew up and the power light stayed on and you could not turn it off on the tv you had to unplug it and then when you plug it back in same thing all over again, no picture at all , My TV made a loud pop before this happened, paid 1700 for TV and repairs were 900, bought new TV instead, never buy a Visio, there customer service totally sucks, you get a warranty and they try to screw you with an old piece of junk refurbished TV, they tried anyway, after 2 months they finally gave me my money back and I bought a totally awesome, SAMSUMG, THE WAY TO GO!! It sounds like the same deal and if it is a Visio just do a google search and see how many people it has happened to that own a visio..steve
Hello! I have a 32" Vizio LCD...within 30 minutes of the tv being turned on, black lines start running through the bottom half of the screen and eventually blacking out the bottom half of the tv screen. It also doesn't have anything to do with the ratio as I have tried that. HELP!
