Everytime I receive a fax, the first page prints out then I get a "Check paper size" error

Sounds like you have the paper size in the tray set incorrectly. For example, it may be set to legal, but you have letter size in the tray. This would cause that message to display. Check your setup options for the paper setting.

How do I clear the in use alarm on a canon mx340 printer?

The in use alarm appears to be related to fax reception and printing. There are some options below that you could try:-
Memory Reception If the machine receives a fax under one of the following conditions, it will not be able to print the received fax and will store it in its memory. The In Use/Memory lamp is lit and Received in memory is displayed on the LCD. When the problem is resolved as described, the fax stored in memory is printed automatically.
  • Ink has run out: Replace the FINE Cartridge.
    i_green_arrow.gifRoutine Maintenance
    i_note_e.gifNote
    • You can set the machine to forcibly print a received fax even if the ink has run out.
However, part or all of the fax may not be printed since the ink has run out.
Also, the contents of the fax will not be stored in memory.
If the ink has already run out, we recommend that OFF be selected for Auto print in FAX user settings to store the received fax in memory and print the fax manually after replacing the FINE Cartridge. After you replace the FINE Cartridge and select ON for Auto print, the fax stored in memory will be printed automatically.
  • Paper has run out: Load the paper and press the OK button.
  • A different size of paper from that specified by Page size is loaded:
Load the same size of paper as that specified by Page size, then press the OK button.
  • Page size is set to other than A4, 8.5"x11"(LTR), or Legal (or 8.5"x14"):
Set Page size to A4, 8.5"x11"(LTR), or Legal (or 8.5"x14").
  • Media type is set to other than Plain paper:
Set Media type to Plain paper.
  • You pressed the Stop button to cancel printing of a fax:
    Press the FAX button
Alternatively turn the printer off, open the devices and printers section of Control Panel, right click on your printer and select "see what's printing" and left click on this. A window will pop up which may or may not contain a list of documents. If it does these must be cancelled (Menu - Printer - Cancel all documents). Once all documents have gone from the list turn the printer on and try to print.
Other than the above suggestions I would need to know more about your OS and exact problem. Hope this helps.

MX-310 has fax's in memeory but keeps printing the first page of the first fax only. Screen says check paper size. When i push ok it only will print the first page over and over. How do I change it?

If your Canon MX-310 has been set up to print faxes as they are received, then what is actually in memory is a "received fax report". If you select a particular fax in this report, it will print the first page of the fax to remind you of the content.

Your Canon MX-310 will store fax documents in memory if:
  • Ink is low or has run out
  • The paper size and type is not set correctly
  • Paper has run out
  • The Output Tray is closed

My HP 6100 series all in one wants to align cartridge

This document explains the different results obtained when using or not using the Automatic Reduction (or Auto Reduction) Feature. The following issues usually result when the Automatic Reduction feature is not set correctly:
  • Faxes printing too small
  • Faxes printing on more than one page
  • A blank page ejecting between each printed fax page
This feature can be turned ON (the default) or OFF from the Advanced Fax Features menu. The two main purposes of the Auto Reduction feature
  • Fits a received fax page onto the paper size loaded in the paper tray and selected in the paper size setting of the Basic Fax Setup. For example; if letter size paper is loaded in the paper tray and selected in the fax settings and a legal size document is received, each page will be reduced and printed on one letter sized paper.
  • Allows the addition of the fax header margin at the top of every printed fax without extending the fax onto another page. The fax header is printed at the top of every fax received with identifying information about the fax sender. Since this increases the overall page length, the page must be reduced to fit onto one page. Auto reduction slightly shrinks the fax as it is received so the entire page will print on one piece of paper even though a top margin is allowed for the fax header.

Paper

If you see this message on the front panel of the HP PSC 2210 when you are receiving a fax, check that the paper size is set to match the paper size in the paper tray. (You cannot receive a fax on 4 x 6 paper or on an envelope.) Checking the paper size setting
  1. Press Setup .
  2. Press the right arrow until you see 3: Basic Fax Setup .
  3. Press Enter .
  4. Press the right arrow until you see 4: Paper Size .
  5. Press Enter .
  6. Press the right arrow until you see the paper size that matches the size of the paper in the paper tray.
  7. Press Enter .

Fax in memory light stays on

I've had this 830 for about 5 months now and am very impressed with its speed, but the glitches, Holy Smoke.
The one you're describing is one I've had before. The only solution I've found is to unplug the machine, wait about one minute and plug it back in. All is then OK. The problem with that system is that if there are any more docs in memory, you've lost them.
I'm having a similar problem with receiving faxes. The first sheet prints, and then the display indicates that there is a 'fax output error check page size and press OK'. The memory light shows that there are more pages of the fax (I presume) that need to be printed, but they won't be because of this error. Of course one checks the size and presses OK but it simply prints out the same page followed by the same error message. This could go on for eons if one would allow it. I then have to unplug the printer, wait and plug it back in, and again all is well, but I've lost the documents in memory.
There are so many little quirks with this machine I am almost tempted to go back to my miserable HP, but I've chosen to keep working with the MP830 with the hopes that after years of learning its idiosyncracies, there will eventually be a class action suit against Canon which I will be part of, to cover the cost of psych services and physical therapy (bas shoulder from throwing the machine out the window.
