I keep getting a message about a software update. I am on DISH and cannot find which button to hit to find out more about the update

you pay for DISH and they have support. You should contact them. However that error is caused because the receiver was sent a software update and it did not complete the transfer There are diagnostics that need to take place that check the signal level. You may also need new hardware.

Check the input cable to dish box for firmness and the orientation of the dish.

I don't think its anything serious but first try to update the phone go to settings-Device-check for update if you hit on update after performing update check and the phone is up to date I suggest you do a factory reset if does not resolve you need to reload the O.S contact a phone doctor for reload.

Dish keeps turning it self off and about 3 hours then I get a messages saying the recivers is turne off and press this button to get it back on and it does come back on thent turns its slef off...

This sounds like it is related to your inactivity standby settings. You can resolve this by pressing menu, select preferences and the updates you can change the inactivity duration to a more suitable time frame.

The receiver is getting a software update and if the message stays on your screen for an extended period of time the download could be failing.

Try unplugging the receiver for 10-15 seconds and then plug it back in to allow the receiver to reboot itself. If the message returns and doesn't disappear after a 20 minute timeframe we will have to replace the receiver.

I have this window that keeps popping up ''sonic Update Manager''. They want me to put in a cd that has the file um.msi in it. This was a download so I do not have a disk. I continually ''end Task'' in the...

Follow this procedure and your problem will be resolved. Do exactly i say..!

Step 1:- First Downlaod the windows Clean up utility.

Click on the link above --> and then Under Summary Option on this page.

Click on the link mention below:-
( Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility package now. )

Install the windows clean up utility on the computer.

Once it is installed Hit the finish button.

Now Click on start-->go to All programs-->navigate
Microsoft windows Clean up utility software.--> click on it and runn it.

Once the Clean up utility window opens up.

Find out sonic Update Manager in the list you see.

Click on it and highlight it .

Now click on the button remove at the botton of that screen.

Once it is gone. Restart the computer your system will not pop up that message again.

( Reason :- The reason why you are getting that message is that the sonic Update Manager software is not installed properly on your system which is why it keeps poping up the MSI ( microsoft Installer ) on your screen for sonic Update Manager. )

So to get rid of it just remove the MSI from the list in windows clean up utility and it will not pop up again.

Let me know if it works for you.

Guide shows info not available and is recording all kinds of weird stuff.

Recording weird stuff:

sounds like you have accidently created timers.

hit the dvr button 3 times then arrow up to 'Timers'

arrow up to 'Edit List'

here you can select the timers you do not want then select delete

run a check switch test

hit menu 6 - 1 -1

highlight 'check switch' and press select

highlight ' test' and press select

wait for the test to finish

if an error pops up there is probably a signal issue, otherwise exit out

you will get attn 015 message, allow this to finish and you will get 330

this is the guide downloading... if this does not happen go to
menu - 6 - 6 and select yes

if it still does not download call dish network

A "Critique show" text message keeps popping up

This is definitely not a Sharp Aquos feature. Any show related functions come from Dish Network. It might be a channel specific function which the Dish Network support staff does not know how to deal with.

Copying recorded footage from the DWD490RE without DirectTV Service.

Make sure the cables that used to run from the satellite are still connected even though u dont have directv, the unit will still download any software updates it needs. if the dish is no longer available, wait until the dvr is trying to aquire satellite info before u hit the menu button. it will allow u to watch saved recordings while it searches for a signal. Also you can plug a dvd recorder to the unit and transfer recordings to dvd
