How can i tighten car electric connection on new bright holiday express train 387?

All works, but the tanker and candy dancer electric connections wiggle loose every time arounnd. Running without those 2 ,all is fine, so its not the sockets on the other cars... Just the plug on those 2 cars. Is there a replacement? Can you use something like a small rubberband as a gasket? Tape dont work..tried that. Going to try trimming strip from 3m hooks or use thin strip of 2 side tape.. But I don't have faith in it. Thinking about hot glue or Elmer's glue applied carefully. Concerned about super gluing, need to remove to store. Any better options?

Solved! I took the log car off, and took candy dancer.. Then , in my lap, hooked the electric as tight as I could, getting ready to 2 side tape.. When I heard a slight click! It snapped in tight! Did the same with tanker... It clicked too! Then i had to juggle them to track! 2 person set up would help! No tape needed, just a new set up method! I was railing then hooking up..

SOURCE: I believe my New Bright Holiday Express train set

Yes they do. I have the #380-2 Water Tank car (and the other 4 that are available) They run and operate just as the other cars do.

SOURCE: New Bright Holiday Express Animated Train - figures do not move

Make sure you the wheels on the cars are actually rolling and not sliding (being drug down the track) Most of the animation is down mechanically as the set moves.

SOURCE: an electricalroblem with Holiday Express train

This train set is very particular and getting it to work each Christmas is a family tradition in frustration. First you must make sure that all the pieces of track are connected properly and that the track is perfectly symmetrical and flat. We double-check the battery positions every year and find one in wrong. There are + and - signs, but they're hard to see; use a flashlight. There is a black toggle switch below and behind the red stack that toggles forward (to make the train go forward) and backwards (reverse); straight out perpendicular to the train is the "stop" position. Also, you have to start at a stop/switch station. One other note: behind the red stack, there is a smaller black stack. If you turn this, you can make smoke come out of the stack. I think I remember someone suggesting a drop of cooking oil. Hope this helps!!! Hope you get it set up for Christmas!!!

Is the train new and if not, has it ever gone forward in the time you've had it? Also have you tried putting the train on the tracks facing the other way - what happens?

Hello, have a New Bright Holiday Express Train No. 387, the train will not speed up and the track clip is heating up.

If the track clip is heating up, you have high resistance at the point the clips fits or in the rail joints themselves. Undo all the track joints and spray them with electrical switch cleaner. Clean the upper rail surface with a green pot scourer as that is where the train gets its power.

Check the connection from the transformer to the track, and that all the track is well connected. Make sure nothing is touching both tracks, shorting them out.

Are transformers for the 387 and 384 interchangable?

Check the output of the transformer going INTO the controler. Mine is 19VAC. IF the controler is working you should measure 25VDC between the inner and outer track with the controller switched on. If you have the AC but not the DC voltage push the red reset button. Once you have the 25VDC put your train in place (engine and coal car) and it should run.

Here are a couple of resources from New Bright:

http://www.newbright.com/images/Manuals/384%20ws%20manual.pdf

There is no On/Off switch on the train. Power goes from wall plug to transformer, then from transformer to track clip, which must be attached to the track. A control line goes from the track clip to the controller. Mine has a green light just above the red On/Off button that will come on even if the engine and tender are not on the track. The tender does all the work, and must be connected to the engine and on the track. There are four sliding contacts between the tender wheels that provide contact with the track.

Check to make sure you have the large plug from the tender car to the loco plugged in correctly and secure. The tender car supplies power to the loco and if that cable is not connected the train will not run.
