Changed fuse in DVD/VCR: Does Amp matter?

I lost all power to my DVD/VCR player, so I checked the fuse.

It was totally burnt so I went to get replacements. I needed 1A250V, but I could only find .5A and 1.6A .

I tried each fuse, and they didn't work, but I thought when I touched one end (with a metal rod), I felt a tingling sensation.

My questions are:
1. Does amplitude matter THAT much?
2. Is there something else I should be checking?

SOURCE: LOST INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO HOOK

Sony maintains most manuals on their website. The general principle is to hook the cables from the video and audio OUT of the DVD/VCR player to the video and audio IN of the TV. Once the cables are hooked up correctly, just press the input, source, av, or video button on the tv or tv remote to change the television to the correct channel so that you can watch videos.

if no power indicator check for broken power cord, if ok at this time you will need to remove the cover of the dvd player to access the power supply.then look for blown fuse or any burnt parts here.

Power went out. won't turn on

Hi,

If your dvd player did not turn on, then,it is very possible the internal fuse burnt out. If not the fuse, then possibly the power supply burnt out.

You can test the power supply with a voltmeter.

Thanks.

No power; no lights will come on. I was watching a recorded DVD and then all of the sudden it turned off and will not come back on.

Hello,

The reason the DVD went off was because it was exposed to a high current and the power pack got burnt during the process.

To fix this, you have to get the appropriate screw driver, open up the cover of the player,

You will see the power pack, if it is covered, open it up and if it is not just go ahead and test the capacitors with a meter reader.

You will discover some burnt capacitors.

Disconnect the power pack, get another power pack and replace the old one, and the player will be okay once again.

Take care

No power to dvd-vcr player

check the circuit breaker. plug something into the outlet that you know works and see if it turns on.
dont think that there is a fuse inside. If the cables seems good ( ohm it out) then the unit might be shot. sorry...

Dead power supply.

Faulty power-supply symptoms:

The front panel display and buttons are completely nonfunctional and appear dead. The unit will do nothing more than display the following messages on the TV screen:

Interface error
(and or)
Interface error! Turn off the power

If a DVD or VHS tape was inserted prior to the error occurring, you won't be able to eject either from that point further. They'll remain stuck inside the unit until you've completed the repair detailed below.

Interface error! Turn off the power <--- explains how to completely restore your combo in less than 20 minutes by replacing a $1.59 part on the power-supply board. [email protected]
