SOURCE: Running four S70 Siroccos off the amp, everytime

You are overloading your amp. IMO 640A cannot handle heavy loads.

Better change the speaker combo and connect something that puts right load on the 640A. Else, get a meaty amp from CA.

Testimonial: "Cheers, I did wonder whether it was all to much for it to handle - and now I know. Many thanks."

I have a Cambridge audiosr10 topaz. make a very sharp sound when volume is turned up before half way

Sounds like the potentiometer is worn u will have to buy a new one they r cheep $3 to $6 dollars u will have to remove it and find out what it is in ohms or k/ohms it will b marked .::::::: but before u do this if u buy a can of CRC electrical contact cleaner or similar give it a spray in the gap on the control pot it might save u having to buy one .if it is not worn to badly. Why does my Cambridge Audio Azur 851W power down even when a signal is operating.

amps like this only power down when there is a problem with the amp, usually a shorted output stage, but could also be shorted speaker wires or damaged speakers, it's a self protection mechanism

do you get sound from both speakers before it powers down?? if you do it is definitely an internal problem so take it to a repair facility,,,

if not check the speaker cables & the speakers themselve

Cambridge azur 650R shows "PROTECT" after Volume more than 1/4, protection-relay works, loudspeakers&cable are o.k, WHY?/Solution (relay broken)?

What ohm rating does the receiver have and what ohm speakers are you connecting. If the receiver is rated for 8 ohm speakers and you are connecting 4 ohm speakers, you are overdriving the amplifier. This will cause the protection to trip. Also make sure your speakers polarity are matched. If they are out of phase this may also cause a problem.

Cambridge azur amp 640a working brill till yesterday !! now protection light !!!! turned it off numerous time etc plenty of venterlation carnt get it to work

Looks like the fuse blown.. or the classic symptom of electrical fault inside the amp. 640A uses a sensitive protection circuit often ends up in this irritating situation. Normally, there is nothing much you can do, but just check your wall plug connection for Open Ground or Left & Neutral reversed issues. If the wall plug is free of error, then you should better contact CA technical support.

I have cambridge audio azur 640a amp. Problem I have is only the one speaker is working. Both speakers seem to be ok working off the left speaker terminal. Seems to be problem with output from right...

The fault is on the amp! It sounds like the protection circuit is detecting a surge on the channel and shuts it down to protect the speaker. I would check the semiconductor device(s) for the right channel on the heatsink of the amp. You might even see damage of burning on one!
