Once you have pulled the main release inside the car. (The small black lever in the right foot well). The safety release will then stick out of the front grill to one side of the front badge.

Safety catch on hood wont release and hood wont re latch!

I would check to see if the hood release moves when the inside lever is pulled then pushed, if not the cable and latch mechanism may need lubrication or be broken.

Why does the shifter stick?

You have to have your foot on the brake pedal to release the car from Park. The brake pedal switch sends a signal to release the safety lock. The shifter is adjusted to mesh with this safety lock. The switch may be broken or out of alignment and that is why the safety lock is binding. Sometimes the switch is broken or out of alignment that your brakelights will not work. Check them.

Someone needs to find out why stuff is binding.

Volvo hood safety catch release broken

If it is just the safety latch you should be able to use a coat hanger to release it. It may take two of you to get both sides at once.

My power lift gat stoped working it sound like it is trying to open but the gate won't lift or come down once i open it manually

Not to be insulting, but have you released the safety latch? The lift is usually gravity drop, so it won't take much min regards to the safety latch to keep it from lowering. If is is a power down, and you feel pressure , The the latch ia the only variable involved. Good luck and be safe. Do not release anything you suspect while inspecting without attention to safety. hands and foot. Good luck Ned

How do I open the hood of a Mitsubishi L300 ?

  1. Locate the interior hood-release lever under the dashboard on the driver's side of the interior of the car.

  2. 2

Lift up and toward you on the hood release lever. The lever is connected to a cable that releases the hood. The hood will pop up about 1/2 inch when you pull the lever.

  3. 3

Move to the front of the car and locate the exterior hood-release lever under the front of the hood. It is located near the middle of the vehicle, just beyond where the front edge of the hood meets the body. Lift up on the inner lever.

  4. 4

Lift up on the edge of the hood while holding the inner lever in place. When the hood is up, find the hood prop and raise it, setting its tip in the hood-prop mount on the hood, to hold the hood up while you work in the engine bay.

I can "release" the hood on my 1999 Audi A4 from

Yes, you will be able to open the hood if you pull off your splash guard and use a long long flat head screwdriver or something like that. You'll see the hood latch in front of the radiator with the cable attached to it at the top near the hood, put it on the drivers side edge of the bottom of the latch and pry to the passenger side, the lever moves from the drivers side to the passengers side, the cable basically pulls the top of it to achieve this. so your doing the same thing on the bottom with the screwdriver.

Release the latch from underneath by the lever that you have to pry towards the passenger side. Then open the hood, and repair or replace the safety release mechanism. This is very simple to remove out from the hood.

Where is the spare tire located in a 2000 Dodge Caravan

The Spare tire is under the Van between the Rear bumper and axle.
Check in the cargo area. There is a nut that lowers the spare tire on a cable hidden under a flap in the carpet.
If the tire does not come down all the way then the safety catch is stuck. The tire will come down a few inches and hang by the plastic t-bone holder. You'll need to get underneath the car and either reach over the tire or up in the center hole to release it. It is thinner than the main cable and hard to get at, but with some effort and good hard tug it will release.
It's a horrible design flaw.
After you finally get the spare tire off, you should either lubricate the release catch liberally or disable it completely so you're not stuck again.
Good luck and hope this helps.
