I have a Whirlpool fridge that needs a new water filter. Twice now, when I remove the filter to change it, water gushes out even though the ice maker is OFF. I quickly turn off the water line and mop

The Whirlpool fridge requires a water supply connection to a cold water line. Before you connect the water supply to the water line on the fridge, make certain the unit is unplugged from the wall. Press the button and drop down the cover. Then twist to release the old filter and twist the new one into the filter head. Run about 2 gallons of water through dispenser to remove any air from the lines. Liquid EPDM Rubber Roof Coatings for Roof Leaks Repair EPDMCoatings

My Kitchenaid French door fridge's water filter

If I remember correctly it requires a quarter to half turn to disconnect in the counter clock wise direction. May take some grunt to free it. If that fail try channel lock pliers and be careful to not break it. once turned it should pull straight out. Try that as maybe its not twisted into place properly to start and just needs to be pulled straight out.

I am having trouble removing the water filter from my Kenmore Elite fridge.

you must of used an after market filter instead of the brand name filter, you will probally need a tech to come out and he may have to order a filter base and change out the whole thing

The place where the water filter goes in won't open so I can't replace the water filter. It will not turn the 1/4 turn to the left as per the instructions. It seems stuck.

Hi there

These caps can be very stubborn to remove, the 'o' ring seal can almost lock it into place.

There are 2 things you can try

Switch off and unplug the fridge

Switch off the water supply and open the dispense valve

1. Use a hair drier to warm the cap, be careful as this can get very hot, you may choose to use gloves if it seems very hot, be careful not to overheat as this can distort the cap. Then twist anticlockwise and pull to remove the filter cap.

2. Put a shallow tray on the floor below the filter and cap, carefully and slowly pour hot (not boiling) water over the can then ,wearing gloves, twist anticlockwise then pull to remove the cap.

You may need to persevere if the filter has not been changed before.

Having changed the filter then plug in the unit and switch on the power and water and draw off water from the dispense valve in 5 second burst for about 2 mins to remove air from the filter and ensure that clean water is right through the fridge

Hope this helps

Water Filter

Open the fridge site, look up at the top right corner, half way to the back, you'll see the filter laying horizontally against the top of the fridge.

Push a button with the arrow to pull down the cover, you'll see the filter.

Twist the filter counter clockwise to remove it. My filter name is Puriclean II. Yours could be different.

How do i change the water filter... its at the bottom front of the fridge in the grill part. I tried twisting but i dont want to break it

Push in and twist. If it is stuck you may have to use a little force. Make sure water is off before you use any force, because if you break the filter housing water will go every where

Water filter stuck on my Kenmore Fridge

I had the same problem. I coudn't get the knob to turn. I ended up taking the front grill off so I could get a better grip on the knob. Once I did that I still have to put a lot of pressure on the knob to turn it but that did the trick. When I got it turned a quarter turn then it was easy to pull the filter out. Hope this helps!
