Sounds to me with that type of message that machine has connected to router. but router is not connected to modem/switch depending on what type of internet you have

if router has usb ports and you plug a thumb drive into it and pc can see that drive yes my thoughts are correct

Wifi for b130

SETTING UP A BROADBAND CONNECTION
First you need to decide what type of broadband andInternet service you require and these are -
1. DSL that uses your existing telephone line.
2. Cable that uses a cable service and can include a cable TV service.
3. A wireless 3G network which uses the mobile/cell phone network and can beseparate or combine with your cell phone account
Note - Combined services generally offer discount pricing and may include amodem/wireless router.

If you use a wireless router with the DSL or Cable Internet service and yourlaptop has a wireless card then you can also connect to the Internet at WiFihot spots like McDonalds, Star Bucks, the Airport etc.
If you use the wireless 3G wireless broadband service, then you can access theInternet anywhere where your ISP has 3G wireless coverage. You need to checkthe service coverage area where you need Internet service.
Once you decide what type of broadband your require, then you need to checkwith the various Internet Service providers to see if they can offer and thecost of the various plans.
Note the download limits and the associated additional costs if you exceed themonthly download limits. Once you sign up with a Internet Service provider, their documentation will include setting up instructions and/or installationCD.

Cant connect to my dell inspiron 8100

I think you should check the wireless settings of your router first.
If your wireless network is secured then make sure that you have the correct wireless network key WEP / WPA .
If your router is too old then it will be better to upgrade the firmware of your Linksys router.

Just had a new wireless card fitted and I am trying to connect to my router

I recently purchased a new wireless card for my desktop, it was a Linksys 54g with speedbooster but after the switch the networks I was connecting to (Free wireless from my apartments) will no longer connect. The old card that I had was just an offbrand card which used the microsoft zero connection tool to configure, this new card attemps to use the software included and ive tried to switch between the two different connection configuration tools both can detect the routers but when trying to connect it does not even get to the aquiring access key stage. the router is not passworded so I guess I was just wondering can this new card not connect to the router maybe due to brands? possibly the router is belkin or something of that sort and this linksys card cannot connect? I had before gotten it to connect at the very good 54kbps or whatever the number is but it would not let me access internet and then said limited/no connectivity. I also tried to change the settings on my wireless card and set them to 802.11b only, 54g auto, 54g LRS or Performance but all had the same result, I switched the default channel to match that of the router as well still nothing.

Make sure you are connecting to your own internet connection through your wireless router and not on your neighbor's.....limited connectivity means you are out of reach or signal is blocked....

Wrong ip address, need to reconfigure

Im assuming youre using an integrated ethernet card since you say "adapter port" and "unplugged". So....

Since you reformatted your HD with O/S re-installation you may also have to reinstall or update it to the correct ethernet adapter driver. As far as the ethernet card set-up - copy your ethernet card property configurations from the other computers. Also copy configuration settings from your Internet Explorer options.
