Hi,
reset your camera to factory default in main menu.

SOURCE: My camera wont turn on

First thing I would look at are your batteries. Chances are, you may be using batteries which aren't recommended for your camera. Use alkalines at least. Even better, batteries with a higher mAh - like around 2500mAh would satisfy the higher power requirements of your camera.

Another option is to reset your camera. This is a fairly easy procedure which involves either going into your setup menu and choosing "reset," holding down the menu key for 5 seconds, or, removing the batteries for a few minutes. It may be that the firmware loading got corrupted and the camera just needs to be "rebooted," which is something that turning it on/off won't accomplish. But after which, you should have the camera reset to factory default settings.

Another tip is to go to Nikon's website and look for firmware updates. Download and install them.

SOURCE: The self timer on my Nikon Coolpix S550 will not

Isn't there a button on the camera with a picture of a clock? Push that to reach the proper setting menu.

SOURCE: how do you use the self-timer on my the nikon

On your menu navigation buttons, push the left arrow to get to the timer. Then push up or down to turn the timer on. Then push the middle button to exit. Now position the camera for the picture, and push the shutter button. You will have I think about 10 seconds to position the subject. It's a cool function, have fun with it!

THE RECHARGEABLE BATTERY WILL NOT WORK

There are two possibilities. First, the camera's internal charger may be defective or second; there may be a defective circuit in the camera that is draining the battery. I would buy an external battery charger and try recharging the batteries outside of the camera. The chargers are not too expensive. If that does not solve the problem, you need to contact Nikon for repair information at 1-800-Nikon-US (1-800-645-6687) 9AM-8PM EST, Monday to Friday.

Why my coolpix s4300 will not charge

How old is the battery in the camera? Most rechargeable batteries will eventually lose their ability to charge. Usually one cell of the battery fails and the battery never reaches full charge. If the battery is more than a year old, replace it. The Coolpix S4300 uses the EN-EL19 and suggested retail price of $41.

If you have tried a new battery, I would suspect a problem with the charging port. That isn't something I recommend fixing yourself.

I hope this helps.

Camera constantly takes blurred pictures

Appears that the auto focus mechanism is not working, This anomaly is most obvious in lower light situations when focusing is much more critical.

If the camera was new and two months old I would either return it for another one or have Nikon repair the lens assembly under the terms of its warranty.

Have a Nikon coolpix 4100 and cannot figure out from the manual how to use the self-timer feature.????

Hi.
On the selector dial press the left arrow next to the clock icon. This brings up the timer selector. Press the down arrow to select on and then select. This sets the timer. Now position your camera and press the shutter button. There is a 10 second delay between pressing the shutter button and the picture being taken. If you want to take another picture with the timer, you have to reset it.

Cannot turn OFF self timer mode on Nikon coolpix 8400.

Press the self-timer button (marked with a one-handed clock) once for ten-second delay, twice for three-second delay, three times to cancel timer.

Problem with nikon coolpix 8700

Same problem that would not allow me to take a picture without pressing the LOCK button on my Nikon 8700. Here is how I believe I fixed the problem:

Turn the camera ON.

Press MENU button on your camera to bring up the menu.

Scroll down to SET-UP, open the SET-UP menu by scrolling right.

In the SET-UP menu, scroll all the way down to FUNC (Controls) on page 2/3 , open the FUNC (Controls) menu by scrolling right.

You are now presented with 2 options:FUNC and AE-L, AF-L)

Select the FUNC option by right scrolling.

Choose the 2nd option: i.e the mountain, flower and timer icon (distance, macro and self-timer icon) by right scrolling.

Press the MENU button to get out of the menu.

Attempt to take a picture without pressing LOCK.

Should work! Anyways, it worked for me.

Cheers.
