Problem is with a three year old Bosch SHY56A05UC /14 dishwasher. It started with the unit not circulating water through the spray arms. Bosch sent a tech and diagnosed a bad circlulator pump. Returned with circulator pump and replaced. Started unit and had no water coming in. Found that solenoid valve screen was blocked with debris from moving the feed hose around and dislodging debris in hose. Replaced solenoid and water feed hose, flushed out line, re-connected and tested the unit. Water was flowing and new circulator pump was working properly. At that time cancel drain selection was pressed and drained. A regular wash cycle was started and the tech left. After the cycle ended and dried we checked the unit and found water still in the bottom, it had not drained. We put it through the cancel drain cycle and it drained. We scheduled service again. While waiting for service (weeks) we made several attempts to run a full or quick cycle, it would intermitenly work, sometimes it would drain initially when started then not at the end of the cycle. Other times the cancel drain would not work. The tech returned and diagnosed a bad control board and replaced. Tested the cancel drain mode and left. We started a full wash cycle and when it was finished there was more water in the bottom. So it's been 49 days without a dishwasher and factory service another 14 days out and the holiday next week we're at our wits end. Some other points; when you start the cancel drain a noise can be heard like it wants to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated
I have the same problem right now and would be interested in talking to you further. Everything seems to be working and draining properly. The sprayer arms are not rotating, so I am asuming a circulating pump problem more than the control module. You said everything worked after the circulating pump was replaced, other than water at the bottom at the end of cycle? When control module was replaced, did this change anything noticable for you? Let me know what you think! Was it the circulation pump, or circulation motor, or both? Thanks for your advice and help!

Bosch Model SHY56A05UC/14 won't drain during any wash cycle or when "Cancel Drain" is initiated. Dishwasher started making an inordinate amount of noise during any drain cycle a few months ago but still drained. Now it makes the same noticable grinding noise but no longer drains. The filter is not clogged. When bypassing the door switch during a drain cycle, I can see the impeller turning and the water moving but it does not drain. HELP!
Thanks

I would assume it would leave water in the machine. some machines have this as a function. it is used to keep water in the drum to stop items becoming excessively creased. it is mainly used if you are not going to empty the machine for a while. you should be able to press the cancel button again to start the draining process.
I tried the various solutions on this site with no success. Finally I wedged it shut with a nice clear plastic door stop. Worked perfect (who cares if people think it looks funny, I am not hand washing and still am not out any extra dollars)
what is happenig i believe and has happened to me 2 times is that the water level float that is on the left side of dishwasher is stuck.
Either remove side panel and flick lever or pull dishwasher out and tap lower portion of panel and this will cause the level to move and then see hat happens
The dishwasher is stuck in drain mode because there is water in a catch leak area underneath, it may have been caused by soap suds over flow or disposal backup. Remove bottom kick plate and vacuum out any water, then run dishwasher again and look for water leaks.
I have a Bosch Dishwasher and the E-Nr is SGS4362EU/03. The machine is approximately 4 years old, in good condition and has been working very well. Suddenly, there is water remaining after it completes a 50 degrees C wash cycle. This is also evident with the pre wash cycle and the 65 degrees wash cycle.
I have checked and cleaned the filters. I have loosened the internal pump white cover (Torx T 20 screw) and checked for any physical blockage - none. I have also checked for any drainage hose kinks - none.
I have tried a series of empty washes and the machine drains the water during the wash cycles. The dishes are also have a dull colour and show show signs of not being properly rinsed during the wash cycle.
Hello Mimhoff it depends on how much water is down there. The sump area always has a little water in it to prevent the circulation pump seals from sticking. Usually around 1 to 2 inches. If there is more than that, check the slots at the bottom of the sump on the left side for being clogged and check the end of the drain hose to make sure it is clear. If you are getting a moldy/odor from the dishwasher, try running Dishwasher Magic or Tang thru the dishwasher. This will remove any build up of food or detergent from the dishwasher. If you are running the dishwasher every few days and just scraping your dishes, then either leave the door ajar or run the rinse & hold cycle to help keep the odor down. Bosch doesn't reccommend running bleach thru the dishwasher as this can cause damage to the rubber seals. However 2 tablespoons of bleach once a year won't hurt.
There is a pass through the lower back side of the dishwasher that also has a restraining device to prevent drain hose from being pulled off of drain pump. After passing hose through this opening, connect hose to drain pump. Note: there is another restraining device built into lower plastic housing which has a finger notch to accept hose and keeps the drain hose engaged in to drain pump by not allowing hose to back out of drain pump/ hose interface.
