SOURCE: Canon Speedlite 430EX zoom issue

You're gonna kick yourself, but here goes, you know that clear plastic wide beam shield on the front, make sure it's fully inserted or else the auto zoom won't work while it's in use, (or the flash thinks it's in use)

SOURCE: Canon PowerShot G2 buttons don't work

You have a bad button board . This is a single board with a series of small button switches that control all these functions. Most repair shop will charge around 75.00 to fix.

My Canon AV1 only shoots in B mode, the light meter works correctly, and everything else seems fine. Has anyone had the same issue and found a solution?

If your Canon AV-1 is only shooting in Bulb (B) mode, it could be due to a malfunctioning shutter or aperture control. However, since the light meter is working correctly, it is possible that the issue is with the camera's shutter speed dial. The shutter speed dial is located on the top of the camera and should be set to a specific speed when shooting in aperture-priority mode. If the dial is stuck in the Bulb (B) position, then the camera will only shoot in bulb mode.

I would recommend taking your camera to a professional camera repair shop to have it inspected and repaired if necessary.

How do I fix the zoom control on my Canon SX40 HS digital camera after dropping it in the water a couple of months ago?

You'll need a repair I'd think that something has shorted out when immersed in the water. You need to consider the cost of repair against a replacement. A secondhand version of your camera will sell for around $100 New about $275.

The zoom stopped working. does anyone know what to do?

This is the power zoom control?
Could be a burnt out servo motor that does the work.
I think there's no way out but a repair shop.

HF10 zoom goes without any explicit request

My HF10 started to mysteriously autozoom as well, and I had made no setup changes. I don't have exactly the same symptoms as you describe except that it would begin to zoom when I didn't want it to. I noticed the [I.AF] (Instant AutoFocus) icon, so I went into the menu (Camera Setup - AF Mode) and turned the "Instant AF" to "Normal AF". After that, the autozoom seemed to have stopped. I set it back to "Instant AF" and it did not autozoom again. I wouldn't know how to turn the autozoom back on again even if I wanted to, but thankfully it appears to be gone now. Hopefully it will stay in manual zoom mode. Hope that helps.

Zoom won't work

I have had the exact same problem develop with the A530- now twice!

The first time I had to send it back to Canon to fix it. According to the repair summary, what they replaced was, well, the entire control board...not many things breaking can cause the entire zoom/buttons to stop functioning aside from a control board malfunction of some sort.

Anyways, Canon fixed the camera, everything was hunky dory.

For six months. Then the problem developed again. When the same problem occurs twice in a row without any warning whatsoever, that's when I start getting annoyed and consider buying another camera.

So at least in my case, the solution to the problem was that it had to go back to Canon for repairs. I had an extended warranty on my camera, so I can't say how much it will cost to repair the problem. If it happens again like it did in my case...consider buying another camera.

Can't zoom

To my regret you can't repair it by yourself and it should be repaired in a professional lab. Following the repair cost you should decide, whether it worth it.
