The battery is sealed extremely well because it's lithium ion, dry it with a towel and charge it in the charger no problem I'm sure. The camera will need to come apart, it has moving parts and even if you could use compressed air (which is not always a good idea because static can fry chips from air rushing by if the air is warm enough) you would still have to get any particles of junk out of there. Get a magnifying glass, a complete jewelers screwdriver set (you may need a small flathead for something), and a cold can of compressed air from office depot or walmart. Your can temp should be about 50 to 60 degrees. Too cold and it will cause metal in the camera to condense water, too hot and the static electricity might fry a chip. Use short bursts. Make lens open and close with the battery in while it's apart to test it if you can. I've not had this apart myself but have had cell phones apart a few times.

Follow these steps: 1. If you have a SD card reader, insert the SD card and look for it in Windows Explorer. In this case, mine was labeled F: 2. Right Click on the drive for the Card Reader (IMPORTANT) and choose FORMAT. 3. Format card with default settings. 4. Turn Camera on and go to MENU> FORMAT CARD 5. Before answering the next question, insert SD card into camera. You will hear it beep twice. 6. Choose FORMAT and the card should be formatted for use on the camera. Cheers!

My coolpix s9 cam will not transfer pics from cam..i would use a card reader but the pics are on the cams harddrive and not the sd card...please help!or does anyone know how to tranfer pics from cams...

You can copy pictures from the internal memory to a memory card by selecting "Copy" from the Playback menu.

Press the MENU button to bring up the main menu, then select the right-pointing triangle to get into the Playback menu.

That is the only Nikon software that supports Vista since your camera is "outdated".

Here is a quote from Nikon site:

We had released a Windows Vista-compatible version of PictureProject, v1.7.5, for use with the models listed below, and all models that followed. PTP (models supporting the PTP protocol) and Mass storage USB transfer options can be used for camera connection. However, the camera's transfer button can not be used to transfer pictures over a PTP connection. Set the USB transfer option to Mass storage to enable the camera's transfer button.
Currently, the new Nikon Transfer and View NX will replace Picture Project as our new Image Transfer and Browser applications. These applications support the same Nikon products as Picture Project.
