Why is oven door locked after self-cleaning mode?

Hello ericndiana6b - Was the unit in self-clean mode? Try pressing and holding the "Clear/Off" button to stop any operation of the EOC. Do this at the same time while pushing and hold the light switch to the left of the door lock. Usually this will trick the oven into unlocking the door. If it is ineffective, try resetting the unit by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and redo the steps. If door continues to maintain locked while open, the unit may possibly have a faulty door latch or a communication problem with the EOC. Contact a professional to move forward accurately.

• Cancel self-clean.
• Wait 20 seconds.

you should be able to push the clear/off button for three to five seconds and this should cancel the cleaning mode and unlock the door.

IF you can locate the model number tag (bottom left of door opening) you can look up the manual at www.geappliances.com
The only button on your stove that should make the door lock would be the clean button (self clean model) if that is pressed simply hit the clear/off or cancel key and wait for the door to unlock. 2 Turn on your automatic oven cleaner; this usually entails locking the door and turning the function switch to "clean."

1 Remove oven racks and place them in soapy water to soak.

Pull the plug, wait 5 minutes and plug it back in. Don't touch anything! First check to make sure the door closes. If it does you are ready to set the self cleaning mode.

There should be a manual unlock along the top of the door. If not unplug from wall and wait a few it has gotten hot enough that it thinks it is in cleaning mode. After a bit it should reset. I hope your turkey isn't in there! Good Luck!

the oven door does lock during self clean, otherwise it will not work. however, the door is supposed to unlock after the oven has cooled. if it is still locked, turn the oven to self clean and wait about a minute and then hit cancel and see if the door unlocks. if not, there may be a probelm with the door lock mechanism. Was able to get the lock to go in on the door and then turned off the power which reset the system.

Try pressing and holding the cancel button for at least 5 secs. Wait a few mins. Something different should display on the display panel. The door should unlock after a couple of minutes.
