Question about Wells F-67 30 lb. - 9.2KW Dual Pot Electric Fryer

I have power going to the fryer, but no sign of life. Im wondering if there is a trip switch somewhere or something. Does it have an oil sensor '?

My Breville BDF450 will not turn on (no lights no nothing). Heated oil up prior to cleaning. Cleaned and changed oil now unit will not work at all


Did you pour out the oil when it was still at it's hottest temp? I would guess there is a master overheat sensor that tripped off. It will be a little thermodisc with 2 power wires connected to it. Find and replace that thermostat sensor. You can test it for continutiy with a volt meter.

Hi there!
Check the rating of the electrical circuit breaker where the unit is tapped, it must be at least 25 % higher than the unit' s current rating on nameplate to avoid tripping.
If hi-limit of the unit trips after reaching temperature setting, try lowering the set point; hi-limits are designed to trip off at 450F for safety. Or it may be faulty causing premature or early trip off temperature.

Hi there!
Reset button of hi-limit switch will only pop-out when its sensing bulb sensed temperature higher tha 450F (trip temperature of hi-limit). Theramostat may be bad allowing oil to reach temp above 450F causing hi-limit to trip-off or hi-limit itself is bad tripping-off at temperature lower than 450F.
Check also the position of the sensing bulb of the hi-limit, it may be positioned touching the heat tube (for gas fryer) or heating element (for electric fryer) that's why it prematurely trips-off.

Have a fryer that i have a problem keeping lit. the reset button when oushed keeps clicking once you get it to stop the fyer will lught however only stays lit a few minutes. not sure if its that swutch or...


Unless the fryer is running at 400 degrees or higher its that switch that is bad. That is a high limit and should not trip off unless the fryer gets close to the flash point of cooking oil which is in excess of 400 degrees for most oils. If I'm not mistaken the high limit is set to trip at 450. It's also a good idea to check the temperature of the oil when its working properly. It should run at 350 and its common to see the flames go off at about 360 and then come on again around 340 to maintain an average of 350. A bad high limit is a common problem.

When the whole unit shuts down including the pilot light the thermocouple is not working properly. The thermocouple is what tells the gas safety valve that the pilot light is lighted. When the thermocouple fails and does not send the milli-volt (mv) signal to the gas safety valve due a failure the gas safety valve turns off the gas supply. (i.e total shut down)
If you have a handyman around you can have him disconnect the thermocouple from the gas valve control and clean the mating area in the gas valve and on the bitter end of the thermocouple. After cleaning then reconnect the thermocouple. This sometimes corrects the problem. FYI you can get a thermocouple at most any large appliance parts supply. (You will need to the know total length) It would be even better to have the old one in hand during the trip to the parts store.

My fryer will not heat up consistently. If i press the reset button, it heats up. But after heating up to a certain temp it shuts down and stops heating. There is power to the unit, it seems like a problem...


It probably is a problem with the thermostat. The reset button is probably a high limit. The high limit is a safety device to turn the fryer off if the oil gets too hot. Normally they will "trip" somewhere between 375 - 450 degrees F for commercial fryers. I would suggest placing a temperature probe in the oil and see what the oil temp is when it trips. If it trips at a temp below 375, it is a bad high limit. If the thermostat is set at 350 and the temp goes over 400 then the thermostat is bad.

Hello. Could be three things, from what you describe, it sounds like your pilot is dirty, and not heating the thermopile enougher, and pilot off to energize the pilot portion of the valve. You could also have a bad thermopile, and no matter how long you hold it, or if your pilot is good, will it energize the valve. The last thing is that your hi limit has failed, and is preventing your gas valve from getting any voltage at all on purpose, as it is a temperature actuated switch that will shut the fryer off it it gets too hot, it could have failed and is now keeping the pilot from coming on, some of these have a reset button you can push ( usually red ) that will reset it, but then why did it trip? either your thermostat is out of calibration, the bulb may be broken in the tank somewhere, or it may just be tripping too early, like 375, instead of 425 to 460 depending on spec.

i think that its is a hi limit switch to prevent a oil fire the fryers at kfc would dothis everyso often and it turned out tobe a bad logicalboard somewhere, check all valves and the switches on them to make sure that the fryer is aware when they are open or closed? let me know if you need more info

High limit tripping


Hi bro check the oil level of your fryer and the quality of your oil. The common reason of the hi limit tripped is the oil level is lower than the standard level and the other one is oil dirty need to filter or change oil because they not sense the rigtht actual temp of the oil. If all is ok drain ur oil and check if the sensing valve is broken. Thanks
