My tomtom Rider GPS was working fine earlier today on it's car mount while charging from car accessory outlet (cigarette lighter). After I turned it off and later tried to turn it on, still plugged in via accy outlet, nothing would happen when pushing start-up button. Any advice? Thanks!
My Rider 1 is showing the same sympton. Was working fine now I can't get past the initial "Tomtom" screen.
Does it power up when connected to the mains charger?- No, need to prod reset and then turn on manually.
Does it switch on when connected to the bike cradle? - No, only sign of life if by manually turning on but only get as far as the Tomtom screen, not the main menu.

If you have a tom tom from the GO models
they hace a reset button you can press with a pin were the mount fits.
When you plug in the charger the green light should come on to say it is chargeing.
Try the car adapter to charge the tom tom
The plugs which are used with car lighters are often very poor; compare the firmness of the seating of the lighter with your accessory plug.
The latter are often too loose to make decent contact.
Also, that plug is equipped with a fuse; unscrew the plug body and check the fuse.
I also recall someone having a failed plug on the Tomtom itself; it may be a weak point.
If your TomTom GO/ONE/RIDER is frozen, won’t turn on or does not
behave as it should, it can be fixed by resetting or restarting your

Your TomTom GO/ONE/RIDER is now reset. Finally, press and hold the power button for 2 seconds.
It is my understanding that a fine layer of corrosion can form over the contacts on the mounting dock and/or the TomTom itself after a period of outdoor exposure. A white course rubber eraser is the perfect instrument to remove that corrosion without excessive wear to the contacts. This is an old computer repair trick that I used on various computer cards. This is just an inexpensive trick to try. Hope it helps.
