What causes my Samsung TV to turn on and off by it self

I have a Samsung 60in TV model UN60FH6003 about 1.5 years old. Recently, it starts to turn on and off by itself: The picture will freeze first, and after a couple of seconds, I will hear the chime and the TV will be off I could not see any backlight and then I will hear the chime again and the TV will turn on and resume whatever program before it turned off .. This will repeatedly happen. I had a TV repair person come over and he said it is the T-con problem. However, I'm not sure whether this is the typical symptom of T-con problems: I could not see any backlight while it is off and the backlight will come again and the TV would be on; there is also NO sound while it is off. While the TV is on, it functions perfectly fine. Another clue is that I only use the TV for chromecast and amazon TV and both are connected to hdmi ports. Although, the on and off thing also happened when the TV was only connected to power and while in the setup menu. These symptoms started a couple of weeks ago. First, it was only occasionally, but they become more and more frequent in the past couple of days .

I installed a tiny computer fan using the USB 5 volts as a power supply, this fix the problem. Good luck

Hi Chris,
I used to have the same issues with my 32S3000 but I've managed to fix it by factory reset.
It's described in a different post here:

SOURCE: samsung lcd tv ltm1755b won't turn on (power light stays red)

Problem: Samsung LTM1755B with only a blinking yellow LED when you try to turn it on.

Solution: I just had one of these come in. I opened it up, and found the U501 capacitor a little suspicious looking, in that it had a deformed top. It was a 470uF 16V electrolytic 105degC 10mm x 12mm. I replaced it with a very good quality 1000uF 16V electrolytic 105degC 10mm x 16mm Nichicon UHN1C102MPD. After that repair, when I tried to turn it on, the LED was yellow for a second, then green, then I got a picture, and it appeared to work great. I then asked the owner a week later how it was working, and they said it was working just like new!

I have a HL-R6168W about 5 years old. It just recently started making a loud fan/vacuum like noise when the tv is on. Also the picture is distorted meaning the color is bad, greenish blue and hazy. The...

You may have a couple of problems. The shading is probably caused by a defective light tunnel, Samsung is covering the cost to repair this problem on certain models. You can call 1-800-samsung to find out if it is covered. The noise and color distortion sound like the color wheel is also beginning to fail. Both of these components are inside the light engine and I would recommend not trying it yourself.

Samsung HD tv help

Is it a Plasma Television? I recently had a customer have the same issue with a 2 year old model Samsung 50" plasma TV. In his case one Of the computer panels failed. He didn't have a service plan and the warrenty was out, so i directed him to Samsungs help line. They inturn directed him to a authorized repair center. Repairs were roughly $800. Thats a possibility but it may not be the same as your issue. Try leaving your TV running for a little while when it has the issue, and see if it eventually goes away. Some older plasma models have started to require a warm up time for the pixel cells. This has been a down fall of plasma that for the most part no longer exists on newer models.
I hope eveything works out.

Have a great day
