You don't specify the model of your Easyshare camera, but there are general troubleshooting lines in Easyshare manuals like this one
http://resources.kodak.com/support/pdf/en/manuals/urg01102/M550_xUG_GLB_en.pdf It appears to have a specialty thin, rectangular battery, which likely can either be charged in-camera via the specialty USB cable, or possibly with an external charger. The picture looks similar to the batteries for my compact digital camera.
The system turning on and then off fairly soon after definitely sounds like not enough juice in the battery. To that end, the manual I saw suggests a few things:
If you are still having issues, even with known good, charged batteries, then look at the contacts. There are two or more metal contact spots on the battery, and corresponding ones on the camera. The ones on the camera may be challenging to get at, but you should be able to use an alcohol dampened swap to clean any overt dust or grime from the internal contacts, and do the same with the battery contacts. In some cases, that will make a huge difference. For a lot of situations like this, I'm a big fan of DeOxit - examples
DeoxIT Contact Cleaner and Rejuvenator Squeeze Tube 2mL or
Deoxit Contact Cleaner Mini Spray UPS Ground Only Walmart com . a small tube or sprayer lasts a long time. My experience is that it's made tangible improvements to battery powered devices by giving much better conductivity to the battery connection. Your mileage may vary.
As a last thought, if there are spring-like connections to the battery, one or more might have gotten bent, resulting in poor,or no, mechanical contact when the battery goes in. that might require very gentle bending back into position.
Hope this helps!
Good Luck

Are the new batteries you put in any good? Not uncommon for camera to shut down when batteries do not deliver enough current.
