Hi try going to your control panel, system, hard ware then device manager. Look for your sound device, its probalbly got the yellow ?, click the + and right click audio, try updating your driver from here. If not go to the Toshiba website and down load the latest driver, install then reboot. Hope this helps?
Please provide the current status? is the driver appears installed at device manager? what are the symptoms, please let us know so we can provide more precise solutions
Yes, you can upgrade from Win98 to WinXP. The minimum hard drive requirements for WinXP is 1.5GB and the minimum RAM requirement is 64MB. You will also need a CD ROM for the install. Now those are the minimum requirements so don't expect it to go very fast. If possible I would recommend you upgrade to Win2000. WinXP and Win2000 are almost identical. The minimum hard drive for Win2000 is 650MB and for RAM it is 64MB. So you could still use your 4GB hard drive and have plenty of room. You will need a CD ROM for the Win2000 also. Good luck if you have anymore questons let me know,

Hi, The laptop you purchased is an older model. It will use most any IDE laptop hard drive. The drive you mentioned from your Dell will work in it. You will need to pull the hard drive and put the sliders or hardware off the old one on to the new one. Look here for more info on your laptop. Look under portables. http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp?nav=Download
check Toshiba site for oem driver video update. seems like you did an upgrade for a card your unit does not have installed. last resort go to 'device manager' check status box for 'display driver' and see what card is used in your unit. also check Toshiba website for the specs on your model.
