All microwave ovens have door safety switches. Your symptoms are classic for failing microswitches. They're really easy to replace, and quite inexpensive. All of the units I've opened up have 4 different ones. Open yours up, pull the switches and replace them all. Done.

I have a Sanyo Showerwave EM-P672W microwave, that just stopped. Went to heat something up, soon as I went to start it, poof. At the time, it was only about 4 yrs old, & was working fine. I do live in a...

Mains borne power surges and transients are dangerous to semiconductor devices and especially CMOS devices - any equipment containing these should be provided with surge protection and because almost everything is a computer these days, this means almost everything!

Regarding microwaves - I have been inside quite a few but so far haven't noticed any fuses protecting the control circuitry though there is usually one in the eht circuit. A power surge is unlikely to harm the components of the eht side.

The voltages of the control and timer circuitry are quite normal but those of the eht side are beyond the scope of the ordinary multimeter. I don't have an eht probe so I have never measured it but at various times I have read the voltage is anything from 2000 to 7000 and because it is mostly transformer generated, it is exceptionally dangerous and if the discharge resistor is absent or not working the capacitor can be dangerous for a long time after it has been switched off.

Frigidaire microwave oven model # ffmv162lba seems frozen, pushing buttons does nothing

I have the exact same microwave and had the same issue with it having locked itself. I held the Stop button for 5 seconds and it unlocked itself with a beep. That was easy!

Went to heat something up hit 30 seconds and microwave just went off..no power..won't turn on..

this is the normal way they die,,they some times go with a bang and some times go with a wimper,,this one went with a wimper,
its most likly to be a fuse blown but why did it blow??? they just dont do that unless there is a fult in them
however the fuses are not normal type fuses and trying to get to them your putting yourself in grate danger,, there is a very big capasitor inside the microwave its a real killer too, holding 1000,s of volts,,,,,,,,, tuch it,,,,,,, and your dead!,,,,,, be warned,,,

Sharp Insight Pro microwave drawer KB6024MS not working

The drawer often stops working when it is abruptly stopped while opening and forced closed or vice-versa. To fix, simply do the following:
1) Push the draw all the way closed
2) Push the "Setup" button repeatedly until the "Open/Close ...?" appears.
3) Hold the Start Button until the time reappears in the display.
4) Repeat steps 2 & 3 three more times
5) Unplug the Microwave for 30 minutes.
The drawer is now reset. The drawer will now open electronically (automatically) either by pushing the open button on the panel or by pulling the drawer handle slightly.

Tricky touch pad on Sharp R530 es microwave oven

There are two options here:

1. Order a new control panel frame which has the keypad, trim piece and door button already installed and swap your control boards into it.

The original part number FPNLCB346MRK0 has been replaced by part # FPNLCB346MRK0B and it runs $58.28 plus shipping.

2. Disassemble your control panel frame, peel off the old keypad and stick a new one on.

Even though the keypad alone runs only $35.66, this job takes a lot of time and labor.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace just the keypad yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

Whichever option you choose, we have the service manual for this model and have uploaded it to our site here to help you.

You will need the
free Acrobat Reader to view or print it in case you don't have it already.

EM-P672W

Is anything working? Light when you open door? Is your area prone to have Voltage Surges? Did anything else in your home fail at the same time? These may sound like DUMB questions, but they are necessary.
If the light comes on when door is opened then the FUSE is ok. If the light comes on, but nothing else, you have lose a Control Panel. Perhaps from power surges.

Numbers and light, but no power

It sounds like you have a bad control unit (the circuit board). We repair controllers nationwide for $39.995 in most cases, but if a part is needed which we cannot get, then it will need a new board. That can be ordered from http://www.vancebaldwin.com If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety and disassembly info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Microwave runs when door open

This is probably a a bad door switch or door switch mount. Chances are only the fan and light are running when you open it, but better safe than sorry. Opening the door while cooking (without first hitting the STOP pad) is the primary cause of door switch failure but not the only one. I have a text file called "doorsw.txt" which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems, and a file called "safety.txt" which is of vital importance. You can find these files by searching at Yahoo.com (not Google) for this: microwave display safety.txt If you still have a problem, please write back with more detail. Be safe!
