Try a plumbers shop as it is a whirlpool tub
you state that it is a whirlpool tub then you say don't know what brand of tub it is
whirlpool is a brand name
any way the plumbers display of bathroom units and tubs will help you as the jets used are generic and not specific for the tub

I have a 1980 kohler jacauzzi tub with 6 jets. Looking through the access cover, at the end of the tub, I can see water dripping from some of the jets. Can I fix this without tearing out the walls around...

no not really the only way to fix it right is to open up the walls. this is a common problem with these units, the best thing you can do is contact the manufacture who made it and ask them what to do.

Jets don't work in the jetted tub.

First the obvious, most are electrically connected to a ground fault device, ether an outlet or a breaker. BEFORE ADDING WATER, check these out to make sure they are not tripped. Most all tubs have a minimum water level which must be reached before the jets will operate. This is usually a piece of trim located above the depth of the jets. Make sure the tub is filled to cover this part. If you cant identify the water level device fill the tub so that all the jets are covered by an inch or 2. Some tubs have push button switches or touch pads to control the motor, some have touch sensitive trim. There may be some sort of medallion from the maker on the tub, simply touching it will start the tub. Once you get it going most tubs have a built in timer that turns off the pump in 15 - 20 minutes. For more tub time just hit the switch again but keep in mind that extended exposure in a hot tub can mess with your blood pressure and cause you to loose balance or pass out, hence the 20 minute timer.

Can you cap off the jets of a whirlpool tub if you no longer use the jets?

you can but it's not worth the trouble of doing it! lots of fiberglass and you need to have access to the whole tub on the sides

How do I install a whirlpool bathtub?

here is a link to the some installation and operating instructions.
basically you need to put a 2" x 2" runner under the lip of the tub along the three sides of the tub that touch the walls to support the lip of the tub. that pretty much covers it.

The likely hood of finding jet trim for a tub made that long ago is very remote. If you can email us pictures of what you have perhaps we can match them up for you. send photos to: [email protected]
