SOURCE: How to reformat my laptop without a cd??
IF YOU STILL CANT FIND THE RECOVERY PARTITION.. CONTACT HP THROUGH THEIR SITE AND YOU CAN ORDER A NEW SET OF RECOVERY DISKS FOR YOUR SYSTEM . OR PREFERABLY JUST INSTALL VISTA AND GET THE DRIVERS FROM HP.COM
SOURCE: AFTER COMPRESSING MAIN DRIVE, TFGHT
Compressing the main drive using a Windows Programme, shouldn't give any problems.
I don't understand what you mean by TFGHT. What is that?
Using the compression utility, can de-compress as required, try running it again and decompress it noting what error messages are displayed, if any. Then try again, when it has recovered, or fit a larger Hard Drive maybe?

SOURCE: I TRY TO REFORMAT WINDOW
Hi there,
If a soft reformat doesn't work, you may need to try a complete wipe. You will lose all your information doing this and there will be no backup once you return to Windows.
To start, pop in the Windows 7 disc, then shut down the computer. When you turn it back on, right as it starts up, look for something that says "Press F1 to Enter Setup". This might also say DEL or F2. This will take you to the BIOS, so be very careful what you do in here or your computer may quit working entirely.
Look for a command which allows you to change the boot devices of your computer. It should say First Boot Device, Second Boot Device, or First Boot Priority, Second Boot Priority, Etc. You want to change this so it boots from your disc drive first. Once you've done this, reboot your computer.
When rebooting, you will see a message that says "Press Any Key to boot from Disc." This is where you want to quickly press a key on your keyboard to enter the Windows 7 setup. This part might take a while to load, but it should start up for you.
You're going to come to a screen which says Upgrade or Custom Install. To perform an absolute clean install, choose Custom Install. This will take you to a screen which shows your drive partitions. You will want to select one of these paritions and select Format. Once the drive has been cleared, select the newly formatted drive, then hit Next.
This will guide you through the rest of the Windows 7 installation. When you're back into Windows it will be like you just purchased the hard drive.
