Can i record old vhs movies to dvd or are they copyrights to them? Like Disney movies from vhs to dvd? Thank you

Old VHS tapes may have a copy protection in the video that will cause the video to go dark then to go bright making the copy no good. There are devices available that will remove this copy protection. The copy protection is called macro vision I believe.

Vhs to dvd transfer best way

You need a VHS to DVD converter hardware and software. This converts the VHS movie into DVD file format then you can burn this file to a DVD disc.

I dont really know whats wrong with it when ii try to get it to copy a vhs to advd it wont work?

I don't know what recorder machine you have or what your hooking up to do your transferring. You cant convert VHS movie to DVD by plugging in RCA jacks from VHS player to DVD recorder. DVD reads digital and VHS does not because it reads analog and out put analog. you have to covert VHS movie into digital in order to transfer to DVD. There is a program you can buy call Roxio Easy. great stuff, cost 59.00 buck for your desk top computer, everything you need is there to transfer VHS to DVD...hope that help some, good luck.

Dvd recording using a pc

The product you need is called the Pinaccle Dazzle - it is basically a red/white/yellow composite to USB connector - it also comes with software for capturing your videos in DVD format on your computer (or you can record directly to a DVD disc inserted in yuor computer). I purchased mine at Best Buy, but it is available in a lot of places. It works great, and I have been busily converting those old VHS's to my PC, and then from PC to DVD.

Good luck!

NTSC to PAL

You have to buy first a VHS player that can play NTSC, might not be available locally in Ireland so you have to probably buy online (US). The DVD recorder is fairly comnon nowadays and all of them are capable of recording and playing NTSC and PAL. You can then connect the AV out of VHS player to the AV In of the recorder. Or you can use a VHS-DVD combi. You can google in UK, here is an example: Toshiba RD-XV45, according to the specs, it can play NTSC on the VHS and you can record to DVD on any format that yoou want You can go to this link to view other product: http://audiovisual.kelkoo.co.uk/b/a/sbs/100304323/16875665.html My father died of cancer 6 years ago and I am also transferring the Hi-8 videos to digital format using PC.
