Battery was disconnected,How do I enter the code

New Arrival V15 GDS VCI Diagnostic Tool for Hyundai and Kia

Go to Radio and Navigation Codes website if you cannot find your anti-theft radio identification card. Click "Continue" to get to the first page.
Enter your Vehicle Identification Number or VIN when prompted. The VIN is 17 digits and is found at the bottom of the windshield on the driver's side.
Click "Continue" and follow the prompt to enter your phone number and ZIP code. You must enter the phone number and ZIP code that are on file with the dealer. If you haven't changed them, the information is the same as when you purchased the vehicle.
Choose "Continue" and move onto the page to enter your radio serial number. On 2001 and later vehicles, you can find your serial number by pressing and holding the numbers "1" and "6" on your stereo while the vehicle is off. Turn the stereo on and watch for two sets of numbers. The screen will switch between one set of numbers and the second. Each number will start with a letter. Don't worry about the letter and write down both sets of numbers. That is your serial number. For models earlier than 2001, you will have to get the serial number off the back of the stereo. If you don't know how to take the stereo out, you will have to take your vehicle to a dealer.
Enter the radio serial number when prompted. Once you've entered the correct information, Honda will provide you with your radio unlock code. Enter it as directed in the first section.

My stereo sysytem is a mini stereo: serial number 10200055. It currently says "protect", what is this and how do we return our system to normal operations?

Hi there,

When the word PROTECT appears on this display, this means the unit has detected a critical fault which could potentially cause harm to your stereo system.

The most common cause is a short circuit somewhere - something even as simple as loose speaker wiring could cause a short, triggering the Protect message.

You will need to determine if there is a possible short somewhere, so I recommend you start by firstly turning power OFF, disconnecting all speaker wires, then turn unit back ON.

Operate the stereo (without speakers) and turn volume up:
  • If Protect message appears when turning volume up, then stereo unit itself has an internal fault
  • If no Protect message appears, then suspect the speakers may be causing the issue.
  • Reduce volume and turn unit OFF
Re-connect speakers (ensure the connections are secure), turn unit ON:
  • If turning volume up triggers the Protect message again, there is an issue with the speakers or connections

Hope this helps.....

Need help with HT-z410

When your home theater's display reads PROTECTION, it means the home theater is over heating and the unit will shut down to prevent any damage. This can happen if the unit is stacked along with other electronic devices or the unit is in an enclosed area that prevents the unit from cooling properly. To decrease the chance of overheating, relocate your home theater to a more open area.

If the home theater display reads PROTECTION every time you turn it on, no matter where or how the unit is placed, it needs service. To set up service call Samsung Customer Care at 1-800-SAMSUNG (1-800-726-7864). Have your model number and serial number on hand to set up service.

I have a Kenwood KDC-MP438U and I need the serial number. Is there a way to have this displayed on the stereo screen so I do not have to remove the stereo?

Sorry, there is nothing like that available on any car stereos I have ever repaired. I have been repairing many different aftermarket brands for over 17 years.

The Kenwood serial number is on the bottom of the stereo on a sticker along with the model number.

You can pull the radio very easy, take the face and the trim ring off. Then use something very slim and stiff that will fit between the radio and the cage that holds the radio, your radio should have come with 2 metal strips about 6 inches long that are used for pulling the radio. Push those metal strips in along the sides of the radio but inside the cage, and when they are in far enough you can pull the radio out of the cage that holds it. You can pull it out about a little over half way and see the serial number on the bottom.

I hope this helps you pull the radio a little easier, since there is no way to get the radio to display the serial number on the face.
