I have my first leapPad learning system and the coating on pen is worn so i want to wrap in electrical tape but how do i take the ball off?

Im not sure if you ultra leappad is the same as a Leappad 2 explorer

it might be damp, try taking battries out of the unit then wrapping in a towel and leaving it in the hot water cubbord for a few days.

call and demand a refund, at first they will offer you 15% off, i have no money to even buy that much so i demanded a refund, i had to deface my old one and send a pic, i am waiting for the new one!

Hook it up to your PC.... go to setting....on the leappad connect site...then Click setting in top right corner... then click reset.. hope this work for you.

Try cleaning the other cartridges contacts with alcohol and Q-tip. The major problem with the leappad is that the cartridges are failing after the warranty period is over.

once you get the wiring fixed-either secure the wires in a position where they won't be rubbing against any sharp edges with zip ties or wrap them with protective wrap

You can buy replacement pens online and it's really easy to replace. Just unscrew the panel where the pen cable enters the unit. I think there are two more screws holding down the pen once inside. I've don't it with my kid's LeapPad. I transplanted a pen from a faulty pad but have seen replacement pens online.

Just Google "LeapPad pen" and you will find many links to replacement pens. Amazon carries them as well as Walmart. Check Toys 'R Us if you have one locally.
