I have a Samsung ln46c600f3f I have sound no picture none of the caps look bulged. Can see picture with flashlight.

Look very close and shine a flashlight on the screen. If you see fain picture, your backlight is out. You can try to purchase parts from shop jimmy. They sell tv parts. You can possibly narrow it down to which board to replace. However the most common prob with TVs these days is electrolytic capacitors. They are sized too close to specs. You can identify the caps as the round cylindrical components. Look at the top metal and it should be flat. If it is bulged out/concave it is probably bad. Replace with same uf value but a higher voltage value that will still fit. Usually higher voltage will be bigger. In some cases I attached longer wires to the caps. Observe the polarity when removing as not all boards are marked very well

1st thing I would look for is bulging filter caps. replace any that are.

Is the TV totally dead now, no standby light?

Caps can fail with no outward signs. It takes a special meter to test them. Your set may have a back light inverter that powers the back lights. When it fails, the picture cant be seen, but you have sound, to check this look for a picture on the screen using a flashlight

Check for open or leaky capacitors look for bulge on the top of caps

You have a better chances if you have failing bad capacitors on the power supply board...


bad capacitors sometimes bulged on top,sometimes not...if the caps is bulged you can easily identify it..

The inverter board is common on this set to go out, once dark then you can use a flashlight to determine that it is bad, 2 in away from screen and you should see the picture in background, the sound is something else, it will be located on the main video board, look for bad caps bulging out.

Sounds like maybe power supply, but I would check with flashlight 2 in from screen when the green light comes on to see if you have a picture, if so then you have a bad inverter board, if not then power supply problems. You can look for bad or bulged caps in PS
