You likely have a set built between 1919 and 1930. If you go to this site (
The history of the telescope the binocular ) and scroll down (or search) to areas with Zeiss Binoculars, there are a number of files that have the information on runs. In my case, I looked at the Spreadsheet attached to the Zeiss Binocular Models entry, which , between lines 150 and 168, notes that binocs with the Lena logo were made from 1904 to 1945, and that serial numbers above 1 million began in 1919 and above 1,550,000 began in 1930, putting your pair in there more or less in the middle.

Cheers!

What does 'jenoptum' mean?

Thanks for the research op ... interesting ... ok ... check link below ... http://www.holgermerlitz.de/seven8x30.html
"Jenoptem" is the name given to a civilian version of the Zeiss Jena Deltrentis 8x30 binocular of Porro prism design

Jena, Germany ... incidentally is where Carl Zeiss AG was founded (1846)

Made a leap of faith with regards to spelling "Jenoptem" vs. "Jenoptum".

Hi i have carl zeiss jena jenoptem 8x30w binoculars made in DDR serial no 6758515. Can you tell me in which year these were made. Thank you

Genuine ones have 7-digit serial numbers, not 6, with no letters, so it's a good indicator that they are genuine. Yours were made in 1988.

Dear Sir,I would like to ask you to help me with determination of old Carl Zeiss Jena binocular 15x50. If you send me e-mail adress I can send you photos. I can not find similiar piece 15x50 in the Zeiss...

Carl Zeiss Jena is East German manufacture, that is why you don't find it in the Zeiss catalogue (it isn't Zeiss). It is also almost certainly post-war, as there was no East Germany before WW2.

Carl Zeiss Jena made inexpensive optical equipment for export to the West. The optical quality was fairly high, but not as good as the West German Zeiss, and the finish was less good.

I have Zeiss Jena Dekaris 10x50 ser 1740081 what

The manufacturer was Carl Zeiss AG in Jena, Germany. The serial number indicates a manufacturing date of between 1936 and 1940 (1,700,000 starts in 1936 and 1940 starts with 1,980,000) so your's is likely to be around 1936/1937. Some basic specs can be found here
If you're interested in the company history, have a look on wikipedia or check out the website of the Zeiss Historica Society
Hope that helps
