These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Hard time turning on tv. I turn it on, green light flashes a few times then becomes solid green. No picture or sound. I turn it off and light becomes red. I do this at least 5 times before tv will come...

There are some capacitors on the main boardthat are low quality. You can buy a capacitor repair kit on Ebay that contains a set of capacitors to replace the offending ones - about 15-16 bucks. I soldered in the new capacitors and the TV has worked perfectly since.

Hitachi 53fdx20b picture is red

This is a set first made in 2002. I have seen a few of them with too much red.

Most likely what is wrong is the RED SCREEN CONTROL. It is located behind the front grill assembly at the front of the set. Screws usually secure it from the back on either side and then it pulls off--held by pegs usually.

Behind it is an inspection plate with several screws. Behind that is a BLACK block about 3 inches square with six controls(everything is black) One row of three will be marked FOCUS--stay away from those. The other row will be marked SCREEN.

With a flashlight you will have to look closely at the two rows of controls--they will have r,g,b marked next to them. (red, green, blue)

If you go to a Black and white program and the background is redish etc--take the set to a unused Video input2_bing.gif and after you locate the RED SCREEN CONTROL turn it slowly (less than 1/8 of a turn) to the left---the idea is to adjust just until the screen does not show red---on a blank input it should be black.

Double check it on a Black and White program and then if it was the problem the color should now be normal.

These sets did have some problems with that Screen /Focus block going bad--the entire block costs under 25 dollars and all the wires on the back of it plug in; if you have to keep adjusting it over a short period of time replace it or live with it.

Sony KDF-46E2000 - Screen Goes Blank

You definitely have a bad lamp. Sony rates the lamp life at between 4000 and 8000 hours. There are 3 things that effect the lamp life, listed in order of importance:
1) number of times the lamp is turned on and off. Every time the lamp is first fired, it takes life off the lamp. Customers I see that turn the TV on in the morning, leave it on all day and then turn it off on the evening can get up to 12000 lamp hours
2) ventilation. Be sure you have at least 6 inches of open space all the way around the set and that the vents are clear of dust and debris.
3) power. If the power is interrupted when the set is on, there cannot be a proper cool down cycle. The fans will run after you turn the set off to properly cool it down, if the power is lost this cannot happen. If your power is unreliable, buy a small UPS to let the set finish a cool down cycle

Occasionally a lamp will faill before the average lamp time due to being defective. from your purchase date it sounds like you got about average lamp time. Be sure to purchase AN ORIGINAL SONY LAMP as a replacement, becuase the aftermarket lamps are bad news, Be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!

Insignia 42 inch TV won't turn on

The power supply is in the protect mode. There are many things in the set that can cuase this. Most likely there is a short on one of the circuit boards, or the power supply itself has failed.

You will have to have the set serviced in order to get it going again.
