Copier prints dark on lightest setting

this could be down to several thisngs lift the lid on the top and look at the glass area does the underside look clean or dirty? have a look at the scanner area to see if there is dust ont the mirrors you should see this when you do a test copy press the print button and look at the light unit and the mirrors as they move across the glass if you can see dust or dirt on the mirrors they may require cleaning.. if so turn the machine off take out the screws holding the glass in place lift the glass out carefully.. sometimes they stick down if they havent been cleaned lately so pull up.. take a clean dust cloth slide the scanner unit out for access and clean of the mirrors.. p[ut back together and test if no better open the fornt door and look at the units inside to see if you can take them out..give these a check to see if there are marks on the surfaces of the units.. if the copies are dark usually on a old copier its down to the dust..

Cannon PC1061 making dark copies

OR you can do it yourself.

your problems seems to be Dirty Mirrors.

Your copiear has 6 mirrors that need to be clean up. 5 of them are kinda easy access. the other needs to be clean thru something thiner than your fingers. (you can see the mirror but no way you can reach it).

Now dont worry (not yet) about that 6th mirror since THEORICALLY it doesnt get dirty.

So try first to clean up the other mirrors. and see what happens.

They are located below the platen glass (remove it) and be careful with the lenses (do not touch them). clean everything that seems to reflect light Or images.

If nothing changes you may want to try out with a new cartdrige. Your drum may be done.

Copies have gray background.

Have you had the optics cleaned resently? If not Iwould start with that and make sure you have the copier unpluged and don't forget to clean the two mirrors under the Black Box/cover. It could also, mean that you need a new OPC drum and blade.. It depends on how maiy copies are on the copier and drum...

Canon 6025

Your problem is most likely caused by dirty optics. Place a sheet of paper on the glass & make 1 copy with the lid up. Look under the glass at the mirrors on the scanner & see if there is any dust on them. If so,turn the copier off & unplug it from the wall, remove the glass & wipe off the mirrors with a DRY cotton rag. There are 3 mirrors on the scanner assy. There is also three mirrors under the lens cover that should also be cleaned. After cleaning the optics, make a test copy.If your copies are still to dark, press the additional functions key & select exposure adjustment. You can lighten/darken all copies by changing this setting. If you have any problems or questions my email is [email protected] Good Luck!!
