Try other types of media- it's possible there's a malfunction in the motor drive electronics.

All lights flash display reads "power out self reset in 10 seconds".

Display reads power cut restart in 10 seconds
The motor controller board has a switch mode power supply problem.
Best to get a new motor controller board Or a technician to look at it.
Look at the 6 digit part number under the bar code to get the right part for your machine.

PANASONIC DMR-E65S

Hi,

Does the player make squealing noises or is it totally quiet? Squealing noises may indicate that the player is trying to synchronize with the disc but can't due to an obstruction on the lens or in the laser path inside the pickup or a defect in the pickup. This can also be caused by an intermittent signal problem due to a faulty ribbon cable.

Totally silent means that the photo sensor is not getting any usable input from the laser at all, meaning that the pickup is "blind" for lack of a better word.
This can be caused by an obstruction of the beam by foreign matter on the lens or inside the pickup all the way to a marginal or failed laser diode and/or photosensor array. This can also be caused by a bad ribbon cable with one or more severed traces.

You could try to clean the optics. This is the most common malfunction as far as i know in all disc players. It would involve taking the cover off and finding a way to expose the lense, and then cleaning it with a very gentle brush. some players have a cover for the lense that swings to the side during playing, this greatly reduces the chance of dust accumulating, but its still worth the try.

If you actually see dust on the lense, then its just that simple. clean, close, play.

It may also be worth your while to check on the small shafting that guides the carriage of the laser pickup. Dirt, grome, dust and solidified lubricant can cause stoppage of the carriage and the laser eye then fails to read the next track. Please refer to the image below.

check your fuses first. You may have blown one.

  • Digital audio compact disc player physically damaged, misaligned, any control(s) inoperative
  • Antenna or antenna cable physically damaged, misaligned connection(s)

  • Central junction box (CJB) fuse F227 (10A) F211 (15A), F216 (15A), F226 (10A) (wagon only)

  1. If the fault is not visually evident, proceed to diagnose the integrated control panel (ICP) by entering the ICP Self-Diagnostic Mode.
ICP Self-Diagnostic Mode
NOTE: To enter the ICP Self-Diagnostic Mode, the ICP must be ON and in radio tuner mode (AM/FM).
  1. Enter the diagnostic mode by pressing and holding preset buttons 3 and 6 simultaneously. This will suspend all radio functions, and display SP.
  1. Preset Button 1 = Audio internal/external SELF TEST. The display will flash SELF while gathering the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), then stop flashing when complete. Press the TUNE UP button to display the DTCs if any exist. Record codes and refer to the following table:

I have put in a dvd into the slot, it will not play, the message saying self check keeps displaying

Hi

Assuming that the machine accepts the disc in and begins to spin the disc, you will hear a spinning sound, and goes no further than this point, it would suggest the optical pick up is unable to read any data on the disc or the spindle motor is unable to spin the disc to its correct velocity, it is more than likely the laser has failed, either way the machine needs to be serviced.

Self diagnosis function is flashong red 2 flashes every 2 seconds

Two blinks - B+ over current protection (OCP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits. If TV is in warranty contact Sony.If not read down.
If you're professional check all elements in power supply module, transistors, capacitors, resistors. If you are not contact Sony service in your area.

Every time i put a cd in it won't read

This indicated that the unit is having a problem reading the disc. This can be because the disc is upside down, dirty, scratched, misaligned laser, dirty laser. Try to reset and run a cleaning disc through the unit. If it still cant read it may be a mechanical issue stopping the unit from reading the disc
