If you have just deleted the icon from desktop and not uninstalled then we can put a shortcut back on desktop
Click on START button click on MY Computer OR Open MY Computer icon from Desktop
Open Local Disk C:\ Open Program Files Open HP Folder Open Bin Folder You will find a file by name HPDIREC Right click on the file name and Click create shortcut on desktop ( this icon will not look exactly like the HP Director icon you deleted )
Close the window and you will find the HP Direct icon on desktop
If not, you can uninstall the software from Add/remove programs under control panel and install the latest software for your printer. Click on the download button below to open HP website to download the software by selecting your operating system Download
*Note : HP Director is not longer designed by HP. IT is replaced with a new Software called HP Solution Center
After installing (MS IE 7 or MS IE 8) browser on the computer that is connected to the HP product,This issue occurs on some HP products. The MS IE 7 or 8 browsers might be incompatible with HP Director
Follow these steps to use a workaround to open HP Director each time you use the software. These steps must be repeated each time you use HP Director.
1-Open HP Director using one of the following methods: From the desktop : On your computer's desktop, look for the HP Director icon ( ), and then double-click it. From the Windows taskbar : Click Start , click All Programs , click the HP or Hewlett-Packard folder, and then click HP Director . Although HP Director does not appear to be open , it is open and loaded into the computer's memory, but it does not open in a new window as usual. 2-Without navigating to another open window, press Alt and Space bar at the same time. The Shortcut menu displays near the top-left corner of the computer. Figure 1: Shortcut menu
If the Shortcut menu does not open, repeat steps 1 and 2 until it does. 3-Select Minimize from the Shortcut menu. HP Director displays (minimizes) as an item on the taskbar (the row of open software programs that appears at the bottom of the desktop screen). If HP Director does not minimize, click Minimize again until it does. 4-Click the HP Director icon on the taskbar ( ). The software opens and functions normally. NOTE: The HP Director window and icons might appear larger than normal, but the software is functional.
5-Repeat Steps 1 through 4 every time you use HP Directo
Did you try print any document just to make sure that printer is connected properly to the computer. If it is printing than try to scan from computer , i mean there must be a icon in your computer "Hp Director", open that and click on scan document. if that doesnt work, than click on start, got to run and than type "stimon.exe" than hit enter from keyboard. Nothing will happen , just screen will flash for a second, than try to scan. if it doesnt work than you have to unistall and reinstall the software
If you’ve recently upgraded to the new Internet Explorer 7 (IE7),
and you have a Hewlett Packard scanner or printer/scanner, then you
will almost certainly be experiencing problems with starting it.
This affects almost every model of HP Printer (e.g. PSC 2510, PSC
2410, Officejet series) that uses the HP Director software. Hewlett
Packard is working on a solution, which is due to an incompatibility
with Javascript on the new IE7.
However, we have a workaround for you here! Just follow these very simple steps to get around the problem:
After double-clicking on the HP Director icon, nothing appears to happen... the program is starting normally, but it’s hiding.
Wait a few seconds, then hold down the ALT key and press the space bar. A small dialogue box will appear.
Click on Minimize (you may have to click twice)
Voila! the HP Director task will appear in the task bar at the
bottom of the screen - click it, and the program will appear and work
normally.
MY ADVICE IF THIS IS THE PROBLEM: Don't install/uninstall IE7 and then use Firefox or some other web compliant browser instead.
If the patch or the updates did not work on the link I sent you try this Workaround: Open HP Director each time you use it
If the update to HP Director is not
available, or if you have installed the update and the HP Director
window still fails to open, try this workaround.
From desktop, double-click the HP Director
icon to load the program into the memory. HP Director will not open at
this step. Do not click anything else on the screen until Step 2 is
completed.
Press the Alt
key and the Space bar
together, and then select Minimize
from the menu that appears at the upper left corner of the window. If necessary, click it again until HP Director minimizes.
HP Director software displays as an item
on the task bar (the row of open software programs that appears at the
bottom of the desktop screen).
Click HP Director
on the task bar. The software opens and displays normally.
Repeat Steps 1 through 3 every time you use HP Director.
NOTE:
The HP Director
window might appear larger than normal, but the software is functional.
Cause
In October 2006, Microsoft released
Internet Explorer 7. The HP Director software that shipped with some HP
products introduced between 2002 and 2004 may not be compatible with
Internet Explorer 7.
The HP Solution Center software, which
replaced HP Director software on products introduced after 2004, is
compatible with Internet Explorer 7 and does not exhibit this issue.
